I've followed the Lady Vols for quite a few seasons, so I'm really happy tonight that they won their 7th National Championship.
I think its only a matter of time before the women's tournament games are broadcast on network as opposed to ESPN / ESPN2 because of the sport's marketing potential.

Can I be honest here and not P.C. for a moment? I, and many others I know that watch the NCAA tourney, have no real interest in the women's tourney. The games are generally not as exciting to watch. I don't think the problem is the timing of the games. The WNBA has the same problem. I remember the big deal ESPN made about the first slam dunk in the WNBA a while back, it wasn't in the first year of the WNBA. I will also not say that women's sports can't be fun to watch, but I think they are unneccessarily ducking the issues that really can make a difference. For one, the game does not need to be the same as the men's tourney games are. Throw in some rules changes, change the game! Television shows that are aimed towards a female audience adjust their plots vs. those aimed at men so why not sports too? BTW, I am not talking about silly stuff either, see also the multi-colored ball. There are women's sports that out-draw men's sports too, but most don't seem to think that is any problem at all... what's up with that?

It provides an opportunity to continue their dreams of playing at that level of competition. And they SHOULD have that opportunity.
I've watched girls high school basketball and found it to be enjoyable. But from a fan's perspective, I just can't watch women's college basketball and the WNBA. And I'll watch about anything having to do with sports. It just bores me for some reason.

To capture the female audience perhaps Spize, LTFT, Smitty, XTiger, fyrewood, DAWGH8R, and MTown can dress in male dancer uniforms and go strutting the sidelines of the games. That should capture SOME type of audience.

Not the kind of audience that they want. Thanks for that disturbing visual.

Well, it would seem that there are some who are interested in watching these young women. The interest is growing, slowly but surely:sunny:

There are many that watch women's college basketball, and it's growing.
I hope there are many (including me) that watch the Massillon girls basketball team next season. They have a lot of young talent and should do very well.
