A Plain Township couple, former owner/operators of Midvale Speedway near New Philly, are considering purchasing Thurmon Munson Stadium from the City of Canton and turning it in to a stock car racetrack.

What do any of you think about this idea? Would it work? I remember going to Midvale a few times during my teens and being bored to death. But I do enjoy racing alot more now. It's a shame that a viable lower level minor league baseball team can't make a go of Munson, but this may be another option.

As a fan of racing I think it would be a great idea.

The location close to I-77 would make it accessible to lots of out of towners.

The noise would be a negative factor ..... the people living within a mile radius would be screaming for the cars to run mufflers.

If Randy can make it work, with all the tracks Tony Stewart and Ken Schrader are buying, maybe they could be partners in the venture with him and make it really big time.

I wouldn't want to live close to the track. It sits empty most of the time. It might be worth trying IF they have a solid plan and financial backing.

I went there and loved it. Why? You're allowed to freaking bring coolers of beer in to watch the races. How much better does it get than that. AND they wreck like crazy. I'm in.
