I have a problem with spiders in the basement and I was wondering if anyone knew how to get rid of them and keep them gone. Any help would be appreciated. I know they are scared of us as we are them, but they are an annoyance and not attractive to look at. Im no Spiderman. lol

I guess I have to get rid of those collectable cerial boxes Jim. Spiders love boxes it says and they also like newspapers. I guess I have to throw those out also that I have collected of the years o articles with special importance.

Try a device like this. We have one in our basement and don't really have much of a spider problem.

Thanks for posting that link, OF, even if it did give me goosebumps now, eww!
But oo6, if you want to save your cereal boxes, encase them in large good quality freezer bags. As far as the newspapers, clip out the front page headlines and articles that you want to save and put them in freezer bags as well.

P.S. do not bother using those hedge apples. I have tried it twice in many moons past, and they do not work. Insect bombs work wonders though, and are inexpensive.

I've also heard that spiders are attracted to old gym floors too. :scratchchin:

I live in Phoenix, home of scorpions, black widows, and other little mean critters. We have no problems here with these little foes thanks to the monthly visit of the exterminator. That is my recommendation. They can get rid of them and keep them away.

bottom line, you need to get rid of the spiders food... if it's other bugs then you need to get rid of them.... for example... our exterminator does not spray to eliminate scorpions (God knows I don't want them here) but there is nothing out there that will do this so you treat for the scorpions food source which happens to be crickets. You take away it's food and it will go else where to eat, sleep and drink. You have to eliminate your problems food source. Establish what type of spider you have and elimiate it's food....

I keep trying differnt things. Sometimes it keeps it away and other times it just sits up a rears it ugly face. That's a tough one but rest assure, I will not stop until I have eliminated that American Eagle.
