In Todd Porter's latest column he mentions that current Tiger special teams and linebackers coach will apply for the vacant head coach job at GlenOak.
"Garcia indicated he would apply for the job."
The article mentions his ties to the district and has a quote from Stacy that Garcia is ready to be a Head Coach (an opinion which I share).
The article also mentions this tidbit on Jack Rose:
"Rose said he will take a few weeks to let the dust settle from his resignation and see if he still has the coaching itch. His oldest son, Matt, is a 6-foot-2, 230-pound linebacker at GlenOak. Rose declined to comment on whether Matt had an interest in transferring to Massillon should Rose end up coaching there."
It also mentions groundbreaking on the Paul David Athletic Training Center is scheduled for April 13 and hopefully can be completed in August.
The entire article can be read here.

Garcia should apply for the job. Who wouldn't want such a promotion? Best of luck to him.
As to the question of whether he's ready to be a head coach: we won't know the answer to that unless he gets the job, eh?

Garcia is a real good person and coach. I would love to see him get a promotion like that.

I would say this:
If Garcia goes to GO , Matt will stay at GO.
If Garcia stays at Massillon , Matt will come to Massillon .

Good luck to Garcia in whatever his choice will be. I have known this man since he was in junior high and has always shown maturity and leadership in all that I've ever seen him do. He is a Glen Oak grad, and to go back and coach where you came from has got to mean alot to most.

What if Garcia ends up at GO and Jack ends up at Massillon...Where does that leave Matt :scratchchin:

Scott played on the greatest Jr High team team I've ever seen (Middlebranch 1982)
That team dominated everyone. Ruined by transfers and Taft Jr high when it got to GO.
Good luck Scott

I'm sure that wasn't the first or last class of middle school, junior high or freshman teams that did not live up to their potential once they reached the varsity level.

Yes, I'm SURE that powerhouse Middlebranch (which I've never heard of) had the greatest Junior High team of all time. Gosh, Massillon Jr. Highs I'm SURE were just scared to death of them.

Middlebranch Jr high is on Middlebranch road and is on the east side of Plain township. I don't know bout the greatest jr. high team---you could debate this for hours...but when I was at Longfellow 80-82, we did play Middlebranch and they did beat us. I don't remember by what but my freshman year there were 2 teams that beat us---Middlebranch and LA Dragons.
This is also the same Middlebranch jr high team that went onto Glenoak and beat Massillon in 86'.....they had some good athletes...Garcia, Mike Moore, Dave Rasetter, Greg McCue transferred over to Massillon my senior year and started here......I can't remember anymore but they were good!

You are forgetting about two of the best pieces---- McClendon(RB) and Cheney(QB) who's older brother was Qb for the pups the year before! GO were loaded that year!
BTW--- after those loses in 82 at Longfellow we went from 83-87not losing a freshamn game to anyone until Falando was a freshman at LA in 88!! Coach Ifantedies, Daniels, Herring and Morninstar had some dominating teams back then!!

Harry (Coach If) was a great Jr. High coach..he was very happy coaching at
that level and was more concerned about developing players than all out
winning which is what the Jr. High level should be all about...Harry did his share of winning also...At that time Currence put tremendous emphasis at the Jr. Highs when he arrived in Massillon and it showed in the 80's

No one has mentioned Wakefield for the GO job. He applied at Jackson, so I would think he'll apply at GO.
