The Bulldogs are at it again....

First the RB from STA,and now a QB from Jackson.

Not to mention the GlenOak brothers.

Seems the Bulldogs are out to break the number of transfers from last year.:wtf:

It doesnt matter. I'm sure their all home grown kids from Canton.
At least thats what a certain Mckinley poster would like to make us believe.

McK had the entire 1962 season CANCELLED , due to some kind of infraction. Was that recruitment related ???:gogogo:

McK had the entire 1962 season CANCELLED , due to some kind of infraction. Was that recruitment related ???:gogogo: It surely was. McK people do not want to talk about that for a couple of reasons. To this day, they are the ONLY team in the state to ever get the death penalty, meaning losing a season, for recruiting. Some player from the Ohio river area was involved... I have forgotten the exact town involved.

CANCELLED CHECKS were found, which had gone to the family of the player.
Those Canton folks will not tell you about that.:ohplease:

Oh Yes, WE WILL TALK ABOUT IT!
If you learn nothing from history, you will repeat it, and no thank you, we will NOT!

I will copy and paste this information here from our web site at www.cantonmckinley.com

1962 (0-0-0) Pete Ankey
Year of suspension by OHSAA, no games played
Canton McKinley 1962....
UNDEFEATED - UNTIED - UNDRESSED (by OhioPup)
During the off season between 1960 and 1961 a couple of McKinley boosters were in the Portsmouth, Ohio area and had over herd a grumbling parent complain about the playing time that his sons were getting. "After some discussion these booster found the father a job in the Canton area. The players enrolled in McKinley for the 1961 season.
The Supertendant of the Portsmouth reported to the OHSAA that McKinley had "Stolen" two of HIS "star" players".
During the ensuing investigation the OHSAA determined that McKinley was in violation of the bylaw regarding "undue influence"and banned McKinley from inter-scholastic football for the 1962 season "THE DEATH PENALITY".
McKinley’s position was similar to that of many schools today...That the school has no control over what boosters do.
McKinley exhausted all attempts to get the ruling reversed; including OHSAA appeal, Gubernatorial intervention, and an injunction that was taken all the way to the State Supreme Court.
The Ohio State Supreme Court's final ruling was that the OHSAA was private, independent organization and as a member McKinley was bound
to follow the rules and decisions of said organization.
Side notes...
Massillon had toyed with the idea of playing McKinley in the final game of the season regardless of the ruling by the OHSAA and was informed that (any school doing so) would face a similar penalty.
The two "recruited" players were not that good and didn't play much in the '61 season. (In the end what do boosters know about talent). The father turned on McKinley also for not playing his gifted sons.
McKinley played an intramural program that year and the Massillon band even came over and performed during the half time of one of the games.
The OHSAA also saw what effect that this had on the general population of student body and really has gone out of its way to not handed out the DEATH PENALITY since.

And don't forget, Massillon and McKinley played twice in 1963 year to help reestablish McKinley's program and give them a much-needed shot of revenue.

You may say you hate Massillon, but you have to admit that we were there for you in the darkest hour in your history.

Didn't McKinley and Portsmouth play a game in the 70's? I'm sure there was some tension in that one.

Just FYI, the Pups have reportedly filled their week one open date and will play the Detroit Pershing Doughboys. They have had a handful of playoff appearances among several lousy ones.

longtimefirsttime,

Detroit Pershing??? I just watched a taping of Super Bowl XL (seriously...I'm not kidding...I taped the rerun) and that is where Detroit native and World Champion Pittsburgh Steeler linebacker Larry Foote played at!

If that game is played on a Saturday...I hope to see the hard-hitting linebacker at Fawcett Stadium a second time...after the Steelers beat up on the defending NFC finalist New Orleans Saints in the AFC-NFC Hall of Fame Game. After all...I am...well...raised with Pittsburgh blood, so I know.

Which Jackson QB? Clay Hall or the sophomore-to-be?

I would think that Hall is going to start, so I'm not sure why he would transfer. Hall's dad is also very active in Jackson's football program, so I would htink he'd want his kid to stay. I'm thinking it would be the other kid.

I don't really care, though. If they think they're all that and will get more playing time at McK than at Jackson, they're more than likely mistaken. If they were a big deal, we'd have heard more about this before now. Also, if they don't want to play for us, and their heart isn't in it- they SHOULD leave for someplace where they really want to be.

OPEN ENROLLMENT!!! We should focus on our team and goals for 2007 and beyond! We have the QB from Hoban, we will have DT, and some homegrown kids that can get it done in 2007!

Buckle up tigers for a great season and week 10 whoever the pups line up with we will kick their butt!!!:weightlift: BALLIN!!!

The 2 most storied High Schools in the State and probably the entire country is arguing about transfers that we both will keep getting, have gotten, and continue to attract in the future---- Stark County Football is the best in the Nation!!! Why would a player want to play for any other school in Stark County?

They're not transfers at McKinley. If a player's parents drove them past one of their elementary buildings once in fourth grade it's a case of they're "coming home."
