Oh Lord, here comes Al Gore, OrangeBlood, and the rest of the liberal freaking tree-huggers. I know, I know. It's the depletion of the ozone layer, right Communists??

Mars and Jupiter are also experiencing global warming. I think the problem is the sun and we should act to destroy it as soon as possible.

You dont think the ozone layer is degrading over time?

Don't pay any attention to them.
They are reactionary older men who are "set in their ways".

They are the modern day equivalent of the guys who insisted the world was flat and that the Universe revolved around Earth.

Everyone else must carry on with out them.

Lol...right. First the scientific community, then Al Gore, now Bush.

Foreign energy dependence and POLLUTION are getting a bad rap! Whats a republican to do?

The study of global climate history is an interesting area of endeavor, however there is not enough data to make any binding conclusions at this point. 150 years (at best) of information to describe the nature of the earth’s climate in its 4.5 billion year history is akin to being able to accurately describe the complexity of a 90 year old’s entire life by observing his actions for a minute and a half. “Global warming” has less to do with science than it does politics.

Yea, right.

That's why when we were kids you could play outside all day in the summer and end up with a nice tan, and now our kids fry to lobster red in a few hours if we don't smather them up with number 30.

You have a lot of learning to do if you think we only have 150 years worth of data on the temperature/climate of the earth...........

Yea...it seems to me that we know all about some ice ages, climate changes that killed off dinosaurs and stuff like that.

Show me the temperature data, not petrified tree rings or ice core samples, accurately measured temperature results.

And we also know that it was warmer 1000 years ago than it is now. Wassup with that?

Show me the data.

See graph "Temperatures over the last 65 Million years"........

Those are extrapolated models. They are NOT generated using measured temperature results.

Besides, John Baez is probably Joan's brother.

Did they get those readings from the Weather Channel or NOAA?

I can attest to that because I was here then...sighned

Wrong again......
Your more lost than I thought.....These are measured using oxygen isotopes...

You really believe if it wasnt measured with a thermometer its not true? In your opinion what are acceptable methods of collecting temperature data from the past?

In your opinion what are acceptable methods of collecting temperature data from the past?

There are none Mr. Wizard! The two key words are temperature measurement not phenomenon which may (or may not) possibly be an indicator of temperature measurement.

To continue the debate without definitive reliable temperature records is to abandon the scientific method (you remember- the one you learned in 5th grade science class) and rely on meatball science.
