3 yrs? not a chance. blu-ray and hd-dvd are just breaking the surface but will take a min of 10 yrs or more to become the norm. 1st off the picture quality is better but not so much as comparing vhs to dvd. 2nd they cost way too much now. 3rd people including myself are buying dvds like crazy now because the prices are low and a dvd still gives a hell of a picture. last, in order to really see a swing to blu-ray or hd-dvds you need an hd tv with at 720 or 1080i and people are not willing to make that jump yet.

Better jump into 2007,hd dvd players will cost at most $200 by the end of 08' and during 09' the everyday dvd player will be like a vcr is now. Not to mention if you dont already have 1080p you have no idea what your missing.
