Ok, We all know by now that Peyton Manning was paid $200,000 to show up for two hours at some girls sweet 16 birthday party. If you had the money, Who would you like to have at your birthday, Anniversary, Graduation, or whatever party. Let's make this a little interesting. Lets name a athlete and a celebrity. We'll start with my choices first. For myself I would have Jim Tressel (I know he's not an athlete but he's still a coach, so we'll still count that). For my wife, I would have Barry Manilow.

The athlete I would have would be Pittsburgh Steelers running back Willie Parker.
The celebrity...no question about it, the courageous, attentive, thoughtful, humorous, outstanding, likable, intense, comedian...Dennis Miller.
Enough said.

for the past twenty plus years, my husband and i have had an agreement...he thought stephanie zimbolist from the 1980s show "remington steele" was extremely nice looking. while i thought pierce brosnan was someone to drool over. the agreement was that if either of them showed up at our doorstep, we could invite them in for "whatever purposes we wanted" (steph for him, pierce for me)...knowing full well that the chances of that happening was next to zero...my opinion hasn't changed...i still would invite pierce in for naughty fun....
would i pay him $200,000??? maybe, to get him in the door...but then, he would be giving me my money back and paying me!!!

As far as an athlete I'd really like to meet Jenny Finch or Ric Flair. I'd also like to meet Art Modell but that would likely get me in trouble.

IF I could pick from the deceased, it'd be Woody Hayes and Jackie Gleason. (Although I met Woody once on campus and got his autograph, I'd enjoy having 2 hours to chat with him!)
Otherwise... hmmmm... I'd have trouble selecting ONE athlete. My short list would include Bjorn Borg, AJ Foyt, "Dr J", Arnold Palmer, & Dan Marino.
There are few "celebrities" I'd have any interest in meeting. Donald Trump & Hugh Hefner, more to pick their minds on "business" rather than for socalizing.

Famous athletes I've met: (ie, been introduced & shook hands!)
From OSU: Paul Warfield, Archie Griffin, Pete Johnson, Herb Williams, John Cook. During my year at Auburn: James Brooks, Al Del Grecko, Rowdy Gaines. Others: Johnny Miller, Frank Nobilo, Brett Hull.
I've met a bunch of "not-so-famous" athletes, too. Does anyone here remember Grady Mateen?

I have an incredibly hard time choosing just one of any particular talent. There are just way too many talented and interesting people that would be fun to get up close and personal with, so I expanded the categories just a wee bit.
For starters though, I'd HAVE to have The Queen of Soul, Aretha as my numero uno all-time favorite singer for all of those who would want to get up off of their feet. It aint a party without the music and no one can belt it out better than her!
Hmmm athletes? Well, I gotta go for Omar because he is my most beloved Indian's player ever!!! And then maybe for thoser who just want to sit and stare,Howie Long just because he is so darn gorgeous!!
And then I'd have to add to the mix a couple of old-timers who would be totally captivating because of all the fascinating stories they could tell, like John Madden and Gene Upshaw for those who would just want to sit and listen:2thumbsup:
And for those who have a good sense of humor and love to laugh, I'd have to split the night up between Dave Chappelle and Robin Williams. The two funniest men ever !!!!
Man, if only my hubby would have won that megamillions the other night, I'd be on the phone lining this up:laughing:
