View Full Version : Where is Joe Eitel?

The website www.joeeitel.com has emerged over the past several years as a great source for updated computer points and schedules. Even news media throughout the state use it as a source. However the site has not been updated since the conclusion of last season.
While I have used formulas to calculate and estimate for a handful of teams (mainly Tiger opponents) I would never have the time to do that for every team in the state.
Do you know if someone is going to fill the void? If someone is enterprising enough (and has the free time) they could have THE preeminent source for football fans seeking those numbers.

Bruce Monnin is assuming Eitel is gone and is setting up a similar site but I am unclear whether it will have the detail of Joe's. Joeeitel.com probably got more hits than USAToday in weeks 8 and 9 last year!

I doubt that Bruce (or almost anyone else) realizes the complexity of Joe's site. Calculating the current Harbins for 700+ schools is daunting enough, but incorporating comprehensive linked schedules, projections, and max/min is a whole 'nother ball game.

I agree. It ain't easy.
Just like trying to determine the best "leveler" for playoff qualification. Assigning the top 10% of schools (by male enrolment) to division 1 is completely arbitrary. A combination of Harbin leveler by enrollment and power ranking would be the way to go. I know :offtopic:

If his site isn't ready for this year, then this is an option. But it's not going to be as good.

I agree. If someone trys to take up this task my bet is that they will be up and functional for the start of the 07 season.....
Here's the recent posting on Joe's site:
8/22 update: "2006 regions and schedules will be posted later this week. Many apologies for the mysterious delay!"

Good news. Tales of his demise must have been greatly exaggerated.

An article about him (he's just late in updating the site this year).
