I got a phone call last evening around six to let me know it was happening by a family friend. I felt since I was close to them that I would not break the story to the internet. Xtiger--I will say that the allegations may not be true but I will wait and see what develops in the case. Either way A. Butchell may lose the best coach they have had in a long long time.

At least since Tim Flossie. I talked to Claude a few weeks ago. He is a very nice guy (even though he is a McK grad!) and seems to do a lot for the kids at Buchtel. I don't want to throw him under the bus yet, let the facts play out.

albeit rumors....some are reporting this happened at McK when he was there as well as an asst. I believe, and they are asking "all students" to come forward. That makes it sound like it happened numerous times. I guess you truly do not know people or at least many are not what they seem.

Unfortunately, when allegations like this are made publicly, more times than not they turn out to be true.

The article in the Beacon Journal today alleges that Brown has confessed:


Lt. Rick Edwards, Akron police spokesman, said Brown's arrest came as a result of a tip. He declined to give any further details on the tipster.

``It was a consensual relationship,'' Edwards said of the allegation against Brown.

``But in his position as a faculty member and teacher, there is no such thing as a consensual relationship when you're in the position of authority as faculty member to student.''

Asked to comment on the seemingly growing number of sexual incidents involving teachers and students, Edwards said: ``When you send your kids to school, you expect them to be in the best hands of caregivers that are there at school -- teachers, faculty members, gym teachers, athletics coaches and things like that.

``Here's a guy who violated that trust with, not only the students, but the parents and the community,'' Edwards said. ``He was well respected in our community, especially West Akron, for the football program that he's put together. Now he's ruined that trust with the community.''

After Brown was arrested and taken to police headquarters, Edwards alleged that Brown confessed to investigators, but declined to comment on any other details about the interview with Brown.
