trooperden, several of us discussed coming up early and tailgating prior to the scrimmage (a massillon proud first)! Mtown and I have to discuss the particulars but the possibilities are looking good. I would love to get together with the Freemont faithfull to discuss the resurection of the little giant program under the direction of coach kidwell.
More to come!

I didn't know that tailgating for a scrimmage was a possibility...but I'm sure we'll all be hungry after the long trip, right? And this would be the very first scrimmage tailgate! I'm down if everyone else is. I can't wait for that trip...I am always pumped for a long road trip and have enjoyed our past trips to Fremont. Hopefully, we'll get to meet some of you guys and talk some football.

I am also looking forward to the August 18th scrimmage between The Little Giants and Tigers. Ross has worked hard in the past few years to right the ship from the awful days of going 1-19 in 2002 and 2003. We have a young hardworking head coach in Derek Kidwell. His assistants are doing an excellent job and our football program is on its way back.
Massillon fans will be amazed at the difference in our stadium from when you last visited. Field turf, video scoreboard, endzone 25 second clocks, and a brand spanking new home side with new locker rooms and press box. The stadium is 2/3 of the way done. Next work will be to replace the visitors side.

Is that the same Derek Kidwell who was Mr. Football in 1991 from Fostoria?
Did Charles Woodson contribute any cash to your renovations?

It is indeed the very same Derek Kidwell who led the Fostoria Redmen to a state championship. That Fostoria team was coached by his father, hall of fame coach Dick Kidwell, who happens to be the Little Giants defensive coordinator.
Did Charles Woodson donate money? Maybe. The Fremont Area Athletic Foundation(FAAF) has done an incredible job of raising money for several projects. They tapped area businesses as well as the nationwide Little Giant alumni base. The stadium is not the only project they have sucessfully undertaken. Here is a list...
Don Paul Stadium project 3.8 million dollars
A new swimming pool/wrestling room/classroom addition to the high school which was just dedicated 3.2 million dollars
A new tennis complex behind the high school which has been finished for a year 1 million dollars
The Alumni fields baseball complex behind the high school also finished approx 1 million
ALL of the funds for these projects was privately raised by the hardwoking people at the FAAF.
