The Hendrick cars have to be considered the favorites, but it's anyone's race.

Reineykicker15 Your right. Tony appears strong after winning the shootout and race 2 of the gatorade duels. But drivers have also won both before and came up short of victory lane. Im going for either Dale Jr, Carl Edwards, or Kevin Harvick.

Tony is a crybaby that complained all last year of the bumping, then he goes out at 190 MPH IN THE CORNER, and draft-bumps Kyle Busch to win the race.
What a DOUCHE BAG !! If that was him that got bumped out at the end, he'd still be crying like a little sissy!!
I HATE him !!!

What a finish! When you have someone winning by 2/100 of a second and a car crossing the finish line on its top, that's a wild race. Yes I too wanted to see Martin win at the end. If there's anyone who deserves it, he does. I know a couple people who watched NASCAR for the first time and I think they're hooked.

Wow!!! Amazing race and thank God my driver Kevin Harvick won the race. I didn't think he was going to get it from 7th, but he pulled it off!!! I read on scenedaily.com that Kevin actually radioed to his crew that he could win the race under the red flag. Amazing!!!!
MTigers006
02-19-2007, 05:19 PM
Amazing was right. I was rooting for Mark even though I love Kevin and actually picked Kevin to win if not Dale Jr. I was so nervous and all my stomach was in knots. Mark said he let up a little bit though because he was expecting the caution to come out. Some people are saying NASCAR should have thrown the yellow and cheated Mark out of the win. Some people are saying NASCAR did the right thing by the finish they had. The thing I hate is the late starts and finishes lately of the Daytona 500. I heard they are actually testing moving this race to night. I wonder who it work if they moved this race to the end of the season as once discussed. As for the finish Dale Sr. would say something about now thats a race as someone mentioned. Finishing the race on your roof now thats something awsome. What a great race.

I guess that in the realm of things, past practice would have garnered a YELLOW flag as soon as the wrecks occured !
Mass6
02-19-2007, 11:16 PM
If that is the case, then nothing changes. They said it last night on Speed that if you look at when Kyle Busch starts to spin and the yellow would have come out, Harvick was ahead at the last scoring loop. That is what I'm not understanding about the whole controversy. If the roles were reversed and the yellow flag would have come out, it would cause more problems based on when they decide to throw the yellow and who was out in front. Throwing the yellow wouldn't have stopped any of those cars that wrecked from wrecking so it was pointless to throw the caution. Good call by Nascar to let an exciting race end that way.

Execrated, ready to give up the ship huh? I dont think I blame you. DW said that Toyota is actually the only car built in the USA. The Monte Carlo is built in Canada, the Fusion in Mexico, and Dodge in Germany. I dont like the toyota's there either but I guess its something we just have to accept.

Some have to "accept" it, I sure don't. I was into NASCAR when you didn't get to see the races each week. If you were lucky, you would get to see some laps on "Wide World of Sports".
It isn't just the Toyotas. Its all the rules. I mean come on, 'Lucky Dog'? Cut me a break. Back in the real days, you EARNED a lap back, it wasn't given to you.
And it all has come down to GREED. Shutting down North Wilkesboro was where it all started. Who knows where it will end......for me, however, it has.

I know I'm not giving up yet!! My boy Harvick had another strong run at a track that he is terrible at. Had NASCAR done their job during that red flag and actually cleaned the track, he wouldn't have had that flat left front and would have won the race. Oh well, I love seeing those American cars still shaming Toyota, although in a few years Toyota will rule the sport like they do in the Truck Series. Go Harvick!!!!!
longtimefirsttime
02-26-2007, 10:55 PM
I understand your position Execrated. I would assume you also hate the new Cars of Tomorrow. I agree greed led to the demise of some great old tracks (tracks that had owners willing to make the necessary upgrades). There are simply too many cookie cutter tracks.
MTigers006
02-27-2007, 01:46 PM
Execreated, Im with you on this. Its just hard to step away from something I have always left and that brought me joy. North Wilksboro was a great track and always had some great racing. Another victim to the times was Rockingham. I knew the day we lost Dale Earnhardt that a turn for the worst was in the future. I think NASCAR for once should start listening to the fans for input on we want no just the almighty dollar. The car of tomorrow is sort of a joke. I think the roof flap/ escape hatch from a few years ago was a great idea and less of a cost to teams and a great assest to safety. Safety is important, but unfortunitly it cost us the lives of drivers gone too soon before NASCAR finally decided to do something about it. I still believe NASCAR is hiding something in the deaths of these drivers including Dale Earnhardt and think they are soley responcible. Also if you remember they said that Dale Earnhardt's lap belt dumped and tore because it was mounted improperly. As we know NASCAR has thorough inspections before and after every race. So being dont you think NASCAR would have not even alled the car to participate in the race being it was unsafe? It is solely my opinion that NASCAR killed their greatest star or at least responcible.

02-27-2007, 09:56 PM
Execrated,
You're absolutely correct!
I too was going to boycott until the rice burners left, but I couldn't stand it, I had to watch. And thankfully Harvick my man won.
But back on subject.
You may remember the downfall of CART.
Foreign cars....Toyota sshhh Honda is next!
Foreign Drivers...Juan Montoya...there's some Aussie dude driving Busch cars.
This is only the beginning.
The other subject that no one seems to know about or at least talk about is the greed of the France family.
Their latest claim to fame is busting track owners. They sell them on millions of dollars of upgrades for a NASCAR race, then when the owner bankrupts they swoop in and buy the tracksout from underneath them. Just ask the guy in Mansfield.
MTigers006

Nice to know that there's plenty of Harvick fans around. I know I've had to go through the down years with him and hear everyone talk of how bad he is, knowing it was a matter of time. I think Toyota will be tough to beat in about 3 years, but when you look at the talent that they have, I don't think they'll be that good. I know a car will go a far way, but a prime example is Mark Martin this year. When did you ever hear of Joe Nemecheck having a chance to win the Daytona 500??? Never! Mark Martin is in the car one race and has a chance to win. I just don't think Toyota has the talent in their driver pool right now. Will they??? Only time will tell, but my money is still on that Bowtie Brigade (sp?). Harvick, Jr, Stewart, Johnson, Gordon (i hate to say the last two) and even the Roushketeers are too talented to be behind Toyota's Vickers, Jarrett, Waltrip, and others. Only time will tell though.

02-27-2007, 11:38 PM
Mass6 I agree with your comments on Mark Martin. Makes you think if he would have made this change sooner what would have happened. I also think he has a big decsion to make. I think he should give it one more full year, but thats his choice to make.
Mass6
02-28-2007, 02:35 PM
MTigers006, I would just like to see Martin make a decision and stick to it!!! We've been hearing for almost 3 years now that he's retiring and now we hear that he may run a full season based on his start. This is getting rediculous, either retire, or stop saying your going to retire!! Vegas should be fun with the new racing surface there.

Hendrick Motorsports will provide engines for the team. A press conference is reportedly planned for 11:00am/et at JR Motorsports headquarters.(5-9-2007)

TigerswillbeTigers
05-09-2007, 08:49 PM
I think Truex has 1 year left on his current contract with DEI and he has a performance clause that says he can leave DEI at the end of this year. If so, I firmly believe he'll go with JR and the only question I have is whether or not Tony Eury Jr. will end up with JR. I believe he would want to go with them but I'm not so sure Dale Jr. would want him as his crew chief if he's starting fresh. Perhaps he would take Eury Jr. in a different capacity!
Either way it's a shame that DEI and Dale Jr. couldn't work out their differences. I think his dad would be dissapointed in the outcome, but proud of his son for doing what he thinks is best for his own future.

Yeah, even with moving Indy back an hour, contracts seem to get in the way. Tony Stewart on his Sirius show this past week said he was at Indy for the final day of qualifying. He said he wouldn't even go to the garage to speak to his good friend AJ Foyt, for fear of rumours starting about him driving one of AJ's cars that hadn't yet qualified.

A week or two after I moved down here my wife and I were at the store. The cashier was so excited because Dale Jr. was in the store the other day. I'll give you the F1 thing, but I'll respectufully disagree about Indy. I could name a number of Indy car drivers without looking it up. Champ Car on the other hand, probably not.
