I've added WEWS TV5 link as well, since the Repository didn't have us listed and it was 9:00am.

I have to say that I was shocked to see Massillon call off school so early for once. I was up at 4:30 and by 5 or shortly after it was already on tv. That was a first, calling off before all of the other local schools.

Stark Snow Advisory
2/13/2007 2:47:34 PM | Craig Simpson
Stark County residents asked to avoid all roadways
The Stark County Sheriff has issue a weather advisory for the entire county. Sheriff Tim Swanson says this comes after collaboration with all departments.
He says any unnecessary travel will impede the removal of ice an snow from roadways. He says to be patient because more snow is coming.
His suggestion: stay in, stay warm and watch television.

My company (who, to my knowledge has never closed up) is pretty much telling us all not to come in tomorrow. Mrs. Growling who works for Akron-Summit Cty Library system got sent home within the half hour, and likely won't have to go in tomorrow.
It's flat out nasty out there, and it's going to get worse before it gets better. Be careful if you have to be out.

Just checked the radar and that ice/mix is creeping closer all the time. And the snow just keeps coming.
Praying for safety on the roads for all of us.

And to think that there are some highschool kids who are actually out on the road as we "speak", running to their friends houses and such! What are their parents thinking?

Just think how much money they could be making shoveling snow in their neighborhoods :glare:
:oops2: I forgot, that was when I was a kid.

Oddly enough, the ones that I know of are mostly girls who are out there:doh: Have faith though Al, my son and some of his friends already have called "dibs" on the houses they are each going to hit up for snow shoveling in our neighborhood. Of course, they are not in highschool, yet, and don't have cars that their parents allow them to drive whenever they want, either.
God forbid any of these kids get into a serious accident today or tonight when they should be at home where they are safe. I mean, that is why they called school off, because of the concern for their safety. Some people's ignorance, or should I say lack of common sense, really gets to me sometimes.

My husband is on midnights and I already was pleading for him to call off. The said in the event of a Level 3- where all driving is prohibited, Tinken will write up the employees who don't show up for work and call off. he came home at 2 and said "DO NOT DRIVE ANYWHERE- NOT TO THE STORE< NOT TO WORK OUT< NOWHERE" which means the roads are bad down here. Route 30 by our house is a mess, cars in the ditches, people pulled over hunkering down unitl the plows come by..not good. We have about 6 inches on our road right now. The snow plows here mailnly focus on the in town streets. I was told that route 30 into east canton, and minerva and east of us is being put on homd to let O DOT focus on the highways and express ways.
be careful out there. Pray that it clears up by Thursday morning- My baby has surgery at Aultman and driving on snowy, icy roads while I am nervous already scares the heck out of me-let alone driving the baby up there.

I'd say it's pretty much a given that no one will be going to school tomorrow morning:jestera: They just said on the news that the brunt of the storm hasn't even hit yet! It normally takes my husband about 12 minutes to get home from work; but tody I am wondering if he will get home before nightfall:ohno: We live on a brick road and the few cars and trucks that have gone by are sliding all over the place.

If it snow down here in Georgia they go crazy it is funny. They buy out the stores because they don't think they will make it back to th store. And sure can't drive.

Not sure if anyone has a clue, but why search for radar images when Massillon Proud serves it's own, by reading the NWS files every 10 minutes?

or here's the radar...

I'm at work at the FD today (Tuesday) doing my 24 hour shift and we've been running accident calls all day and it's only supposed to get worse tonight. I've already been asked to work another 24 hours Wednesday....
STAY HOME! Do not drive anywhere unless it's absolutely necessary or an emergency. Stay off the roads so the plowing crews can try to keep up.

We have not closed school yet and the roads are impassable into town and going to 183-to Alliance. I just ran to True Value and almost amde it there before the fire department stopped me and told me to turn around that the road was closed. They also said the road in to town -30 is a no-no. That cars are pulled off the roads and are walking into town. The hill into town is frozen now- it is sleeting and nasty here.
My kids ain't going to school no how- I ain't driving them around on those roads...:sour:
We'll spend a nice quiet Valentines Day at home tomorrow and eat the 26 cookies that we made for their V-Day parties....more than likely they'll have them on Thursday. Of course my baby is ahving surgery that day and I will need to be with her at the hospital...some room mom I am.... Just kidding- hey they call off school and I cannot be responsible for what happens to my schedule...

yeah- we are not closed for Thursday. The outer roads where we live are terrible- and the school isn't closing- because we will have to make days up. NICE- real nice.
