I've heard this opinion a few times in recent months.
http://nba.aolsportsblog.com/2007/02/11/lebron-james-should-play-point-guard/

Your thoughts?

longtimefirsttime,

If it will get the Cleveland Cavaliers victories, I am all for it! LeBron James is my #1 basketball player!!

When the game is on the line and his pride is on the line...the Cavaliers know who to turn to and LBJ is the one!

Personally I think we should keep daniel gibson at point guard. He is only a rookie and even though he may make some rookie mistakes from time to time, anything is better than that bum of a ball player eric snow. Don't get me wrong, lebron is a great ball handler and would make a good point guard, but alot of his talent would be wasted. Lebron is at his best when he's coming off screens and as fast as he is, the defenders have alot of trouble keeping up with him. Lebron needs to have the offense ran FOR him, not THROUGH him. I think we need to keep daniel as starting point guard for the remainder of the season. If he doesn't work out like we want him to, then we need to make some serious changes in the off season and finally get lebron a big name point guard. Imagine the cavs with a point guard like nash, kidd, paul, or parker. We would be crazy good!!

I have also been impressed with Gibson.

68% from the free throw line as a team will mean an early exit from the playoffs

"With LeBron James questioning the team's offense and noting he's only had two lob dunks all season, the Cavs have been mentioned as interested in point guards Mike Bibby and Jason Kidd."

Mike Bibby is workable in a trade but NJ will not give the Cavs kid without giving up way to much in return. I think we need a solid inside player besides Gooden and Z to make a serious run with a point guard. Outside shooting is also a problem--very shaky and 68% free trow shooting is terrible for any level of bball.

No, Gibson is the man for point IMO. What we need to do is get rid of Larry Hughes somehow, he can not shoot and plays mediocre defense. I dont think Sasha is all that far behind Larry and we could get a decent player for Larry in a trade. However, I do not see anybody taking his enormous contract that we gave him.

When was the last time a team won an NBA championship w/out 2 all-stars?

The CAVS need another piece to compliment James - period. Be it a 1 or 2 guard, small forward, power forward, center, I dont think it matters as much as just getting another top 10-15 player.

I would love to see Kevin Garnett in a Cavs uniform!!

You're not a kidding. That would be the one guy I've heard rumored who would really open things up. Between Z, Drew & Andy pick any 2 and even add a draft choice & I would make that trade in a heartbeat.

KG has said numerous times in the past that he would love to play along side a guy like lebron james. Rumors started going around over the off-season but obviously danny ferry must know something we dont. All i know is that i would probably become aroused if i seen king james and the big ticket both in wine and gold. Wishful thinking though im afraid.

This is how reporters look a gift horse in the mouth. From Roger Brown's Morning Journal column:

"Basketball Hall of Famer Rick Barry, now a Sirius NBA Radio host, says Cavs superstar LeBron James should bench his pride and consider shooting free throws underhanded -- as Barry did -- to solve his foul-shooting problems. Barry says it's inexcusable for a top NBA player to make less than 85 percent of his free throws: James is making just 68.6 percent this season. Barry ranks No. 2 on the NBA's all-time list in free-throw percentage (90.0 percent)."

Are you kidding me?

The Lebron haters are very silent today. What a performance! What was the deal with Damon Jones?

future coach of the cavs? haha

I think Lebron at the point is stupid. Who the hell does he have to pass it off to? Theres still not enough talent around him. Im still waiting on Hughes to start playing the way he did in Washington.

have you not been watching the ways Hughes has played since coming back from the flu? He is actually playing good for a change. The one im waiting to come around is Z, i wish we would have traded him for anyone else and just start Anderson "wild thing" Varejao

hey tiger 2001 you may end up waiting for hughes because he is better at an up+down game and coach brown doesn't run this type of offense. so mr hughes may continue to struggle. man do I hate brown's offense. they should be getting the fast break going more. most of the guys they have are atheletic and we run a stupid offense. I think kidd has said he will not play with lebron. I don't know why because to me lebron is already better then kobe. I was hoping they would get bibby but chose to stay were they were at. they will lose early in the playoffs this year because of not making a good trade and getting bibby would of been a good trade. I think joe johnson or micheal redd would have been better for the cavs to get then hughes as both are better outside shooters. to bad the cavs couldn't trade up to the first pick and get oden.

Lebron would not be denied again! Good job by Marshall on the threes and by Andy to hit the game winner.

I think Lebron is doing fine where he is scoring over 30 the last 8 or 9 games not sure.
