Man found in trash bin

A trash-hauling crew received an early morning surprise today.
About 1:40 a.m., a Republic Waste truck crew emptying a dumpster at the Speedway gas station at the intersection of Union and Market streets in Akron discovered that a man had been inside the metal trash container as it was emptied into the truck.
EMS responded and took the unidentified man to Akron City Hospital for treatment.
Police said the man was heard pounding from inside the truck. Reportedly, the man had been compacted with trash at least once inside the truck.
