I find it absurd that having beaten James Toney twice that Samuel Peter is benig put on hold for a heavyweight title shot and he is the WBC's #1 mandatory challenger.
Peter deserves the shot and if he is going to get passed up like that, there will be legal ramifications behind this.

It sounds like Peter has a valid argument. If you allow a guy to take a year off then instantly be named the number one challenger it creates a slippery slope. Having Vatali Klitschko fight Peter would make sense but as you know making sense and boxing don't always go hand in hand. Peter may also be a little bitter from losing that fight against his brother Wladimir in 2005.

Making sense and boxing are about as opposite as black and white. I mean think about it. Boxing is run by Don King and Bob Arum, the two biggest crooks in the world.

CarlE,
Sam Peter deserves his shot at the title, I don't know why the WBC is making him wait. This reminds me of the discussion we had three years ago about how the WBC, WBA, and IBF picked Roy Jones opponents, when he unified all three titles. Peter should not be denied his rightful opportunity for a title and I'll be peeved to the max if he is!!
Come to think about that, remember his 1999 title bout against Rick Frazier? Frazier was a police officer making small money in club fights and it was the WBC that made the then 18-7 Frazier the #1 contender for Jones title. And what happened? Jones knocked him out with concussive left hooks in the second round!
I'm glad you and I are not boxing announcers...you would have left me in the cold to announce a Roy Jones fight all by myself while you spent time with your family. I can see it right now......
"Good evening and welcome to HBO World Championship Boxing. I'm Keno Sultan. Tonight, my partner CarlE will not be with me tonight for family reasons and we wish him all the best and hope to see him back on air soon. Tonight, Roy Jones will defend his title against Marcus Brutus...a club fighter who has made small money in club fights but despite a record of 19-12, he is the #1 contender for the title."
