It's good to see Middletown back on the schedule. I remember one year going down there, a huge storm came up. The lights on one half of their stadium went out. The second half of the game was played on half the field. When a team reached the 50, they turned around and went the other direction.
That was really weird.

Yeah- Those metal bleachers made me nervous at halftime of that game.

if i remember correctly, the helocopter was kind of blocking the exit of the tigers' locker room and made it hard for the team to take the field. bizarre night to say the least.

I'm looking forward to Massillon coming to Byers field to play Ignatius.

Does anyone know how long the series will continue?

I hope we keep playing Iggy-- we still have that mental block with the privates when it comes to winning against them and we have to get over that to win it all!!! Mental is to physical as 4 is to 1!!! Iggy had a young team last year and should be a top 10 ten going in to 2007 season for sure.

Our schedule is tough for 2007! I cant wait to see the young tigers in the 1st test against Middletown, follewed by the Herbie. Also the Mentor rematch should be a good game(HUGE) with Tanaski being a Mr. Football early top 5 favorite!!!

I agree. They are no longer dominant like they were but for whatever reasons our steepest mental hurdle still. The games are alot of fun regardless, and that win 2 years ago really propelled us.

PDC, Iggy fans have been asking that for like 8 years I think, lol. Relax. Seriously, from what I hear Iggy will remain til if/when we join the Fed, but that is still min. 3 years away. Then there will be a debate over weeks 1-3. I am guessing only 1 of those weeks will be a home/away contract and I'd say WGH is more of lock. But I hope we keep you both. And if this Herby thing becomes an annual thing then its VERY doubtful.

Here's the link to INDE story on the Middletown Game in 1989 that confirms your memories.

Last year we played Iggy on Friday, why do we have to play them on Saturday this year? I really think high school football should be played on Friday nights and not Saturday.
This will be the 3rd time we have played Iggy on my b-day. So far we are 0-2 when we play them on the 29th of September.

RAPTOR,

Ignatius plays most of their games on Saturdays. (every year) I think it has something to do with our sharing Byers field (and Lakewood Stadium before) with the local schools. I'm pretty sure Normandy, Parma, Valley Forge, etc all play their games on Friday nights.

Parma City Schools have use of the field on Friday nights, of which the Tigers
will be part of against Normandy this year.. :gogogo:

From a purely selfish point of view, I'm happy anytime the Tigers play on Saturday. It's awfully hard to make it up to PBTS (or elsewhere, except when we'd play at Arlin) by a 7:30PM kickoff time on Fridays after work, especially considering the Columbus rush hour. I made a couple games by late in the 1st quarter last year, and completely gave up on any chance to make it to the Mentor game.

Besides the travel considerations described above, it doesn't matter if it's Friday or Saturday- the Tigers are the only game in town!

The schedule posted here lists the Youngstown Ursuline game on Friday, September 15. Friday is actually September 14, and Saturday is September 15. Which day or date is correct?

I just think it's absolutely amazing that we could fill a schedule WITHOUT being in a league. :smartass:

And that Mck hasn't... Mck should join a league, you know, one that makes it easy to fill the schedule and all... oh wait.

McKinley still can't fill 2 games !! No opponent for week 1 next year.

Maybe they should check with Ed's, Iggy or Warren !!

You have to finish 6-4 before you worry about that.

I just read on their site that they are probably going out of state for the week one opponent.

Normandy could be an interesting game if they have the same coach as they did two years ago. He was hired in from Florida and he ran a Florida speed spread offense there a couple of years ago where the lineman take 6-8 foot splits to spread out the defense and create HUGE running lanes.
