Excerpts:
The request to provide 20 reasons college football is better than the NFL is not a fair one.
How can anyone defend the humdrum nature of 110,000 screaming fashion-forward (orange, I hear, is hot) Tennessee fans against parity (NFL motto: Excellence just gets in the way)?

How can anyone justify the depth of antipathy that Ohio State and Michigan fans have for each other when compared to the thrills of a Houston-Jacksonville game in October (or the rematch three weeks later)? .................

Oh, and one other thing: Only 20 reasons? Sure you don't want 40?

1. Passion
The appeal of college football is rooted in the simple notion that your team represents you, your state, your alma mater, your youth. The NFL represents -- what, exactly? A bunch of 25-year-old millionaires who will dump your town the minute their agent secures a better offer. There is no loyalty in the NFL. College football is all about loyalty.

Rivalry games like Alabama-Auburn fuel the passion for college football.
Army-Navy. Ohio State-Michigan. Alabama-Auburn. Texas-Oklahoma. Harvard-Yale. Williams-Amherst. No matter the division, there are rivalries that go 365-24-7. You revel in victory and agonize in defeat. What does the NFL offer in comparison? Dallas-Washington? How big can a rivalry be when they play it twice a year? ..................................

Traditions like dotting the I at Ohio State make halftime meaningful at college games. .......................

I love watching pro football. But college football is special (for the reasons mentioned). They do need a playoff series though in my opinion. Of course there is NOTHING like high school football in Ohio.

The glamour, pagentry and energy of a campus with a college football game on a Saturday is second to none! It's the only thing I miss about my playing days.

I have heard that same sentiment voiced by more than one collegiate athlete. Isn't it a shame we can't go back and recapture just the good parts of our pasts? Kind of like a copy & paste feature,

If you've ever been to a Browns game and an Ohio State game you know that they are just nowhere close to each other. Browns games can be fun (sometimes), but when you sit in Ohio Stadium on a fall Saturday afternoon, it is just perfect. It's the way football was meant to be.

MTown,

I'll take being an Ohio State fan over being a Browns fan ANYDAY of the week! I have to hand it to you with that post.

In the words of CarlE "That TigerCoach is something else, isn't he?":tounge:

I have never been to a game at OSU, only smaller colleges like Kent, Akron, etc. But, I can dream:sleepy:

I was, however, to a Browns/Steelers game at the old stadium. We had a lot of fun, but the atmosphere was borderline crazy/scarey. Especially walking past all of the mean, crazy, rude, & drunken Steeler tailgaters on the way into the stadium:ohno: And even worse on the way back to our car being taunted by the same mean, crazy, rude & even more drunken Steeler tailgaters (Brown's lost):sad2:

If you make me one of your "special homemade pizzas", I'll take you to the Georgia Tech vs Notre Dame game on 9/2 in Atlanta.
