Were the Steelers taking hard look at him? I haven't really heard anything about who they may be looking at.

Maybe he was afraid of not living up to the reputation of the past Steeler coaches. He has nothing to lose in Arizona.

Who are the Steelers looking at outside of the organization?

Ron Rivera of the Bears & Mike Tomlin of the Vikings are considered to be candidates. Chan Gailey of Georgia Tech was interviewed but reportedly is no longer a candidate. Grimm (within the organization) reportedly remains the favorite.

I talked with Ken Whisenhut over the weekend and he is very excited at the opportunity to be a NFL head coach. He has been playing/coaching in the league since 1985 and is happy to be getting paid the big bucks now. Plus, with Edgarin James, Anquan Bolquin, Larry Fitzgerald and Matt Leinert, he has some great young talent to turn around a program that has underperformed. The weather is sure better in Pheonix also! LOL!
