Doing very well. Farkas, Price, Smith, Skelly, Hildreth, and Yoder have all done very good and have led the team in tournaments,

Thanks Coke Guy. Do you know the team's record?.........Many, Many, Many years ago I brought my wrestling team to (my home town) Massillon to wrestle them and Louisville, as I had gone to college with both coaches . I had coached wrestling and football in Mentor and when I came here to PA. Wrestling took on a completely different perspective. It was great to have more people at our wrestling matches than attended B.B. games. We pounded both teams, but were treated very well. Of course back then I had a lot of friends and relations in Massillon, sadly, this is no longer the case, but I still follow the Tigers football and attend games when I can and still pray and hope for that elusive state title. GO TIGERS.

That's great lettering as a Freshman. I always admired the kids that wrestle. It takes a lot of physical and mental toughness ... and you're on your own.

Someone please correct me if I'm wrong (and I hope I am), but I believe the Tigers have not had a State Wrestling Champion.

Sounds like your son might be headed in that direction. Best of luck to him and all the Tiger wrestlers.

I agree. Probably the toughest sport there is, imo.

Our son will also be a four year letterman. He lost every varsity match as a freshman so tell your son he will be fine and keep working.

obie 7661, I could be mistaken, but I think the best any wrestler from Massillon in the state tourny was Dave Whitfield who placed second at 175 or 185. He of course went on to star in football at Ohio State. When I took my team from PA to Tigertown his was the only match Mass. won. he was a fine wrestler, but I must say he was not wrestling our starter. He probably would have won anyway.

The only wrestler I can remember from my days was Dave Hout. His brother Mark was a wrestler too. Not sure how they did in tourneys.

Tiger Mom you should be proud of your son. Especially as a freshman it is difficult wrestling at the High school level. The boys have a lot of adjustments coming from the middle school to the High school level. Speaking from experience. Steven was undefeated in Junior High and was a state runner up. His freshman year was the worst for him the adjustment was a constant struggle .... but with each match the confidence gets stronger and with your son and mine working out together in the practice room they can only grow and endure... Please tell your son to keep his head held high and to keep working for his goals... because they are attainable....

I care what the Tiger wrestlers are doing because these guys work their butts off and sometimes its hard to keep working for your goals when you don't see many fans in the stands cheering you on..... Tiger Wrestlers Keep up the awesome work!!!! I'm proud of all of you.

There are several wrestlers who have won multiple tournaments so far this season. Farkas- Price- Smith- Hildreth- Skelly- and Yoder.....:weightlift: :weightlift:

Many years ago, when I was a junior at WHS, I had asked one of our top wrestlers and football players(a senior) which sport was the most demanding; he (Lawson White) did not hesitate to say, "wrestling". Congrads to all our wrestlers, novice and the experienced, for all of your hard work; we're proud of you.

Quick question for you? 20 years ago did PERRY have a good wrestling team? Nope!! coach Donahue is turning the MASSILLON wrestling program around in about 2 more years he will be getting the kids in the high school level that he coached in youth league so watch out everyone here comes the MAT TIGERS!!

Transfers have helped the Perry program. Massillon had great programs in the 60s. No reason why Massillon should not be a good program.

Massillon beat Mck 41-33 last night. We forfeited the heavyweight match between Yoder and Williams...the one match I really wanted to see. Why did we forfeit, Yoder looked fine and was sitting in jeans along the sideline. Was it a discpline move for something I heard he did Saturday at the Tiger Wrestling Invitation?
If you ever want to go watch wrestling..get there on time...I seen the JV was wrestling at 6 and varsity at 7, I showed up at 6:30 and the varsity match was half over and they still charged me full price. I asked what happened and they said JV's had only 2 matches. I know I wasn't the only one this happened too, I heard others upset too.

Steven was under doctors orders not to wrestle for a week if he wanted to wrestle at sectionals and no it was not a discipline issue there was wasnt a problem at the Tiger invitational that he needed to be disiplined for.

Yoder and Williams are slated to face each other at the final round of sectionals at Hoover on Saturday Night.... Provided they both continue wrestling the way they did tonight.

Williams had one match tonight that I know of and Yoder Pinned Perry during his 1st match tonight and then Pinned Stow in the Second match tonight.

Joey Farkas won both of his matches. Wes Price won his match Matt Skelly won his match I think Corey Hildreth won both of his matches. Lauren Louive lost her 1st match to Donte Rini from Jackson.

Good Luck Tiger Wrestlers at day two of Sectionals.:weightlift:

Unfortunately the story in the Canton Rep rag today referred to a Tiger player and their head coach as being from Hoover rather than Massillon
