Ginn is probably gone.

Gonazalez is having a press conference at 2pm. You typically don't have a press conference to announce you're staying.

Pittman has one on either Sunday or Monday at Buchtel. Same deal.

The last day to declare for the NFL is Monday. We are going to lose a lot.

If Gonzo feels he should be getting paid to play college ball he is as good as gone...............

Pittman should stay........

I heard yesterday on WKYC that GINN was going into the NFL draft.

if anyone should go... business decision wise its pittman. Back to back 1,000 yard seasons and next year would split the load a lot more with Wells...plus they have Saine coming in. Very smart choice by Pitt to leave early.

Pittman SHOULD go...The running back position for the 07 NFL Draft is
not a deep one..also with Chris Wells in the mix, Pittman's carries will
likely drop

If he is picked higher than #20 it will be a reach

I know it is only 1 game, but will the championship game cause Buckeyes to slip in the draft? I have read where some have troy smith and quinn pitcock falling. I have also read that most in the NFL realize how much the 50 day layoff can cause problems.

I agree with everyone who says Pittman should go this year. Wells will probably get more carries and next years class of rb's is probably better than this years.

Jim Sabo ( a draft expert) was a guest on the Kenny Rhoda show in the days following the game. He said he doesnt think that one single game can hurt anybody. The body of work is more important. He gave Chris Leak as an example, he had a great game but his stock certainly will not rise. Same with the bucks, they stunk up the joint but have a great body of work so they will not slide much.

I think Troy Smith falls to the late first round or into the second. The speed of (N)FL is something he did not face in the two years leading up to his coronation, and he did not handle it well (50 days or whatever). Good QB scouts are going to find other good QBs out there without the hyped-up price tag of a Heisman winner.

Pittman and Gonzalez both are good picks. Gonzo will be a great possesion receiver on any team and fit well into a lot of schemes.

Sabo also said that a week at an event like the hula bowl is more important than the combine. He was not speaking in regards to any one player but said that the NFL is at the Hula bowl and they have an entire week to watch you practice, workout, and actually play the game of football.

I didn't really think Smith would be considered falling to the late first round, would he? I thought that is where many people had him going. I see him being a 2nd round pick (maybe Baltimore?). I also see Gonzo being a 2nd round pick. I have absolutely no idea with Pittman. He could go anywhere.

It is amazing how players projected very high have slid. I just really remember being surprised that Mike Doss slid so far. I guess Polamalu (sp?) has worked out very well for the Steelers.

Do you think Quinn becomes the 2nd QB taken with Russell coming out?

I think some self-appointed prognosticators, of whom there are many, saw Smith going high in the first round. I, not being self-appointed but only having an opinion, always thought he was a second-rounder at best. He will have to go to a team that REALLY needs a QB. He asserts himself and if any QB controversy develops before he develops into the NFL mold, it could spell trouble for that team and Smith himself, if he's not ready for the speed of the NFL and gets thrust into action too early. But, who really knows? There's always a lot of educated and uneducated guessing that goes on with the draft.

Chumly,

Where will Pittman go in your opinion? I am wondering about late second but more likely early third round.

I will make an uneducated guess and say he goes in the third round. I've always liked Pittman's style of running - he might even be a "steal" in the third round, so round two wouldn't be a surprise either.

If JZ had Pittman earlier in 2004, along with a more experienced o-line and the current offensive system, JZ would be going on the first day too - IMUO

So IMUO, JZ will also be a "steal" in the 7th round or as a FA.

No doubt! And to say all that is not a knock on Smith, Tressel and the other coaches or players or anyone else (including Zwick's lack of assertiveness in '04), but this time Zwick won't be choosing the team. Somebody will be choosing him. Will it be like Paul Brown drafting Kenny Anderson or Shula picking Morino (who had pretty ugly TD/INT ratios at Pitt for example), etc., where a coach can successfully mold him into a system or a system around him? If he didn't have the potential, he wouldn't be playing tomorrow night.

Zwick will be in an NFL camp somewhere this summer. Will we be discussing his game performances on Sundays in a few years? We'll know in a few years.

Gonzo with a few less dropped passes has the potential to be like a Steve Largent. Pittman was an early season Heisman candidate next year if he stayed at OSU.

I dunno. Pittman would still be starting, but I think Wells takes away some of his carries. Plus with Slaton and McFadden (and a new QB at OSU), I don't really think he has, or had, a chance to win the Heisman next year. I guess he would be a weak candidate in my opinion.I swore that I read somewhere, and I can't find the link now, that there was talk at one point of Pittman returning just to try to win the Heisman.

I just don't see Ginn as being more than a return specialist in the NFL. I hope he proves me wrong though.

Here is another question. I know that having 50 days off really hurt OSU, but since so many players from OSU were looking at the draft, is it possible some (not all of them) were afraid of getting hurt? A torn ACL or something could cost millions. What are your thoughts?

I don't have any idea what they were thinking except that the minute the game against ND was over last year, they were thinking and working for the NC this year.

Some people say that Troy Smith laid it down on that first sack from his backside. You bet he did, but I doubt he had $millions running through his mind in that split second. He was in a very vunerable position and getting hit from the blind side and low - he was protecting his knees/legs as any QB would in that situation and it was a smart move. He wanted the NC as bad as anyone and wanted to have a great game as part of the team, I'm sure.

I think most players "know" they can get injured but don't like to "think" about it, as if it's some kind of jinx. I doubt any of the Buckeyes were concerned about getting hurt and it costing them millions. They just sucked against FL.
