i'll be interested to see if the people who left mcguire off their ballot b/c of suspected steroid use will do the same to bonds.

Probably more so for Bonds. I think they are BOTH being villified for being lying-ass cheaters.

I dunno. Bonds is/was much better than McGwire. McGwire was a one-trick pony: he was a slugger, but he couldn't really hit (if you get the difference), run, field, or throw. Even without the taint of steroids, I'm not sure that I would have voted for him.

OTOH, Bonds is/was a ball player. It's going to be a whole lot harder to dimiss the entire range of his accomplishments as steroid-induced. Of course, the sportswiters (you know, the voters) never liked Bonds before any of this happened, so I can easily see some some convenient moral justification being used as cover for settling personal scores.

Exactly my thoughts for making the post I did. This vote is NOT talent-based Wan. We all know that. And these guys think they are annointed anyway so anything they can do to exhibit power they will jump right on.
