"This is America, We speak English and our currency is the U.S. dollar. I will no longer visit your restaurant due to your demonstrated inability to assimilate into the culture of this country," said one irate former customer in an e-mail sent to Pizza Patron on Monday morning.http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20070108/us_nm/pesos_pizzas_usa_dc

Makes good business sense, though. Check out this snippet: "The peso/dollar exchange rate being offered at Pizza Patron is 12 to 1 against the current rate of close to 11 to 1 to enable the franchise to cover the costs of converting the pesos at local banks."
In other words, it costs almost 10% more to buy a pizza with pesos. Seems to me that they should bump the exchange rate a little higher, say to about 14 to 1.
Anyway, I wonder what all of these "patriots" think about spending US dollars in Canada and Mexico.

By far my biggest disappointment in President Jorge Bush has been his total disregard for the illegal immigration problem. Bush had a historic opportunity after 9/11 to make sweeping changes in immigration policy, and totally fumbled the chance. I predict this year the democratic controlled congress, along with the Bush administration, will pass legislation that will give virtual amnesty to the illegals, and the problem will only grow worse.
We need to secure the southern border, heavily fine employers of illegals, and find a solution for the anchor baby problem with a constitutional amendment. If you are the child of an illegal alien, you are not a citizen automatically even if born in the U.S. The illegal immigration problem is a ticking time bomb waiting to go off.

That's what really bothers me. The unwillingness of most mexicans to
ACCEPT our way of life.
I've heard that if an illegal Mexican couple have a baby in the U.S.A.
they all become naturalized citizens.

You expected anything else?
Ever been to Texas?
Bush and his fellow Texas businessmen make a fortune from businesses that employ illegal Mexican immigrants.
Bush will never do anything to interfere with that.

Ever been to Texas?Yes, I have, and unfortunately you are correct. I guess this is what "compassionate conservativism" really means. On this issue, Bush is beholden to business interests at the expense of the will of the people. I've seen polls that have 80% support for controlling the border. Oh, and that 700 mile fence that was passed by the Congress last fall? Never happen. The Dems will pull funding for it.

You are correct that it will never happen, but not for the reason you mention. In a cynical move late in September 2005, congressional Republicans rushed through a feel-good bumper sticker measure that authorized a 700-mile long fence along the border. This would give their candidates a swell way to show their concern about illegal immigration.
Unfortunately, the Republicans somehow forgot to include a single penny to fund the construction estimated at $2.2 billion dollars, or $3.14 million dollars per mile.
So there ain't no funding for the Dems or anybody else to cut.

My bad - make that September 2006, not 2005. I'm suffering Buckeye letdown. Maybe I have laurentitis or something! I'll have to go to Florida to get that kicked out of me.

debate, debate, debate...that is all we do about this subject...
can't tell you the number of times i have turned to my husband after another news segment on illegal immigrants...and said
"they want to be part of the United States so badly, we should just take over Mexico"...makes a whole lot of sense to me...
i don't understand this...if their lives there is so terribly bad...why on earth don't they do something about it??? our ancesters did...we told ole King George to take a flying leap...and then we backed it up with our lives...they just want to come and reap the benefits that took so many their very life's blood to achieve...
so, if you want to be a part of the United States of America, then be it all the way...just as our grandparents did...they came to the US...they adopted its traditions and customs and they wanted to be truly American...in every way...don't just come here...take our jobs and money and then walk it across the border to take to momma and poppa...i cannot tell you the number of times i have seen this happen...if you want a better way of life in your home country of Mexico...then, take a stand...demand that things be changed there...work and fight for a better life for your families, if you love that country so much. as long as no one does anything...nothing will change...on either side of the border...

Everyone is complaining about illegal immigrants and I agree with most of the arguments. As far as I'm concerned, if you're illegal, get the hell out. One question I would like to ask though, and please be totally honest with your answers.....If we boot out all the illegal immigrants, who will take over the tough, dirty, thankless jobs for low pay that they do? In all honesty, the average American is too lazy to do these jobs or thinks they are beneath them or believes it's way easier to get on welfare and be paid for doing nothing.
If all the illegal immigrants are kicked out of the country I'm not saying the country will shut down, but things will be affected, such as prices for services, being able to find people to accomplish services etc. (I'm sure there are even more things that will be affected......Thoughts? Ideas?

If half the country would get off the couch and work the jobs these illegals get we might be able to get rid of them. I guess its easier and more profitable to hang out and collect checks from the GOV as opposed to going out and hooking up CarlEs estate.

i`m a conservative and george DUMBYA bush is a moron. i sent him a letter saying i want my vote for him taken off the record for being a disgrace to the office. i`m not talking about iraq either i support the war although he`s messed that up as well. i`m upset because he sold us down the river on immigration and he spends money like ted kennedy. trust me, he`s no real conservative. even bush 41 thinks his own son is misguided and looks at times like he really doesn`t want to be there.
until the g.o.p gets a real canidate i will sit home and not vote.
ps: no mccain is not a conservative either he`s a "dove"

The jobs will be replaced by two factors, 1) a diminishing labor supply will result in increased wages for the remaining workers, and 2) the jobs will be replaced by increased mechanization. This second factor has been totally ignored by the media. Basements are no longer dug by men with shovels, but if a limitless supply of extremely cheap labor were available, they might be.
The mechanization would also have a trickle down effect on the machinery industry, obviously.

As far as Jorge Boosh, I view him as Clinton light, minus the bimbos. I agree that he is certainly no conservative.

Wouldn't being former Governor of Texas have alot to do with President Bush's lax attitude towards illegal immigration?
