That wasn't a State Title. It was one meet.

How is Perry so tough year after year? Especially with all the coaching problems they have had.

I didnt read the link, but I am sure it was the State Dual Tournament in which every school is not a part of. Its a team thing and totally different that the State meet. Basically if you go watch Massillon wrestle Jackson in a match and they wrestle at each weight class...that was it is. You just wrestle as teams not as individuals with team points based on individual performances. Again, not every school in Ohio is in it.

Perry is tough every year for two reasons
1) They recruit (and they are not ashamed to admit it)
2) They have an excellent feeder program.

Perry starts getting kids involved in the wrestling program in 1st grade. The high school coaches, the high school team, all the way down to the middle school team, come out and help the grade school kids learn the basics and get a feel for the sport. When a child shows interest, they are mentored on up through the grades.
My son, who is in first grade, attended the wrestling clinic and not only learned alot, but also now he knows that it is something he might be interested in pursuing.

I just hope when he's ready to wrestle in high school some "transfer" doesn't come in and take his position in the line-up. Know what I mean??

Massillon could do the same darn thing and take more interest in their wrestling program and promote it if they wanted to. So why tear down another school because of their accomplishments? Zwick wasn't from Massillon, neither is Yoder, etc. etc. etc..... I just don't see the point. Give credit where credit is due.

If people supporting other schools would give credit where it's due Massillon fans wouldn't be so defensive.

Funny how easily people forget this.
