Site was down... AGAIN

I'm sure several had internet withdrawals...

I'm extremely sorry you all had to deal with it. I know I had a horrifying experience getting things squared away from 650 miles away from home. I am on a dialup, and also have an internet capable phone. Both of which helped, but also frustrated the hell out of me!

Our web hosting provider says we are "too much" for their server so they shut the site down, and then insisted that we needed a much more powerful server. Which cost us a ton of cash, by the way. (Thanks to those who gave this year, you definitely helped save the site!)

So now we are on the new server, again, and hope we're not too big for this server. If so, I'm sure they'll shut us down again and hold us for ransome for double what we're paying now, but that's another story.

Anyways, I did have one good thing going. I am at Myrtle Beach and here is a scene I caught, just this morning...

you sickening thing you...go ahead and rub it in that you are there and we aren't...i am sooooo jealous...wish i were there on the beach...there is just something special about watching the waves go out and come in...listening the their soothing sounds...we were at the ocean the summer after my first husband died...it really helped me...came home feeling peaceful for the first time in several months...when things get crazy around here...i can't help but wish i were there...walking the beaches...listening to the crashing of the waves...

seriously, enjoy the ocean...and the sunrises...think of me as you do...and send good thoughts my way...

Bev- Glad I helped, even if only a little bit. That same morning way before sunrise, I was standing there listening, looking and taking in the stars, listening to the sounds, and a couple tears surfaced. Not sure why, but they did. I thanked God and then proceeded to receive that sunrise...

It didn't really crash. They took us offline because they say we were monopolizing the CPU time, to a point where we were violating their terms of service. I don't blame them, but I really don't care for the method they took. They could have picked up the phone. Instead, they just shut us off. A simple courtesy call would have done. I would have been happy to upgrade servers.

But anyways, we're back, and on something much more beefy. Like Tiger Vic said : "We're back on a Div I server"

After our June Donation Drive, we still have a $urplu$ on cash. Not much, but enough to pay until next year. Thanks for the thought- If someone sends money, that's fine, but I'm not going to push for it. I have promised to ask actively during the month of June. Access is hit or miss for up to 24 hours...

I'm really sorry!

I cant get to it from home, but when I log on to my work network it comes right up.

Lesson for the day. It's a DNS issue. DNS stands for domain naming system. It is the thing that makes domain names (ie Massillonproud.com) easy to use. In other words, it maps names to IP address numbers. It makes things user friendly. If it didnt exist, we'd all be fans of 69.57.144.22 and 82.165.132.8 !!!

But when you change servers, all the internet providers in the world kinda "lag behind" for up to 24 hours after you make server changes. That is what everyone is experiencing.

I gaurantee you it's up, and we've not lost anything.
