Tony fought in MS last night. It was the final fight of a SHOWTIME sponsored tournament, that was to crown a champ to throw into the top 10, and a certain IBF Title shot.

Tony garnered up rounds early, and seemingly had a convincing lead until the HEAD BUTT in the 12th round. However, it went to a decision, where the judges scored the fight a DRAW.

Tough break for Tony, as even the announcers were perplexed by the outcome. They both had Tony winning EASILY !!!

So, back to the drawing board for Hanshaw, with a probable rematch against the Frenchman. Tony definately had the HEAVIER hands in this matchup, and with certainly be ready for the challenge.

However, I'm sure it will take some time for the GASH in his forehead to heal. Luckily, it's not close to the brow, or eye, somewhere that would surely cause problems later in the boxing career.

Congrats to Tony !! BTW, during the introduction, he does use MASSILLON , OHIO as his "home town " !!:weightlift: :weightlift:

DAWGH8R,

I watch boxing too. By the way, I saw Samuel Peter's heavyweight decision win over bloated middleweight James Toney last night.

Now go watch some real knockouts......

Tony really was shafted in the decision Friday night. I was upset that TOny really thought it was that close but showed class and sportsmanship not debating the decision!! Rematch should be on in March or April!!!

DAWGH8R,

Peter was 245 and Toney was 234. The most two heavyweights weighed for a title fight was in 2000 when Lennox Lewis (245) fought Michael Grant (255) for the world undisputed heavyweight title.

Just wondering... when did Tony move to Massillon? I used to train Tae Kwon Do in Mansfield and met up with Tony and his father back in about 1988-89. He was just a kid doing Golden Gloves. We worked out in an old gym one day in downtown Mansfield. Glad to hear he s doing well. Have a good one.

The games are beginning already in Mississippi, as armed guards PREVENT Tony the Tyger from entering the training complex !!

It's all part of boxing "one upsmanship." I'm sure Mayweather provided the needed training that day.

It actually sucks and it's all part of Roy Jones, Jr. still thinking that he's relevant in boxing. I hope like heck Hanshaw knocks that glass-ass chin into next week.

CarlE,

"Glass a** chin?" You definitely can't judge Jones chin on the Antonio Tarver knockout. Jones never saw that overhand left coming but I think his setback to Glen Johnson is a different matter. But anyway, I don't see Hanshaw winning by a KO, he'll have to beat Jones on points.

Jones has a reputation of being late for press conferences and I know it annoys people like you to a degree. I know Jones inside and out from having seen his fights in his career and how he deals with the media especially when he is being criticized (don't forget one of his fight rappers soundly told off Larry Merchant before).

I'd give anything to be director of media relations for Jones. If he's late, I can do the talking for him.

Tony isn't a KO puncher , by any means. However, his quickness could easily allow him to win a decision on points.

I called the hotel to findout what time weigh-in is on Friday...ESPN news usually covers them. 4pm but the hotel answered the phone home of Roy Jones....I hope he mauls that C**ksucker!

Come on...you all are being too hard on Jones. No body was boldly, intensely, tremendously, crazily, harping, intuitively, negatively, griping when Jones was the champion of the world, now you all are out to attack him like a batch of uncontrolled, wild dogs from the kennel.

Give the man a break, that's not too much to ask.

Tony the TYGER loses a decision to Roy Jones JR.

Tony held his own for a while , in a VERY BIAS Biloxi , Mississippi.

He took the fight to Jones and was the aggressor most of the night. But, in 11th round, which was a must win round for Tony, he ate an uppercut, then a left to the temple, followed by an overhand right, to send him sprawling to the canvas.

A very anti-climactic 12th round sealed Tony's fate.

Tony fought the best he could, pressed the action, and had a decent showing. IMO, this is WAY too heavy for Tony to fight. He doesn't carry 180 pounds very well at all.

Final judges tallies were:

114 --- 113
119 --- 109
117 --- 110

I thought the the fight was about 7 rounds to 5, JONES

My observations from the fight:

I guess they went with the French pronunciation of "Massillon."

I know there have been previous fights there, but Biloxi, Mississippi didn't wow me.

The gladiator outfit worn by Jones was pretty cool.

Although there was no doubt Jones won, the scorecards seemed off (no surprise in boxing).

Hanshaw was better when he had Jones against the ropes. When he gave him space he was in trouble. It took Tyger a few rounds to figure it out.

Jones' three punch combination in the 11th was one of the fastest I've seen. Even on slow-mo replay it was fast.

Jones' handler, the guy who looked like an even fatter Reggie Jackson, acted like HE had just won the fight. What a camera hog.

Where would Hanshaw be if he hadn't taken that time off? He made a name for himself but, as someone pointed out Saturday night, 29 is getting old for most fighters.

It looks like a Jones/Trinidad bout is on the horizon.

I agree with your assesment of the fight DAWG! If TOny had some punching power the fight would of been alot differant. Tony does not need to be a light heavy because he losses even more punching power. I think Tony gets alot more quality fights in the future. He should me also that he can take punches and get up and continue to fight. This loss will do nothing but build on his career.

LIFT----I was mad how the announcer said Massillon!!!!
