I know it's too early to start talking about the Tigers' January 9th game against Canton McKinley.
But I will say this: Massillon will be mad going into that game knowing they let an opportunity for a district title slip through their hands in a 68-51 loss to the peak Bulldogs last season. The Tigers want revenge and respect and it should be an interesting contest between the top two teams from the Canton district.
Any thoughts on the game from anyone?

I predict the bulldogs will unveil their basketball state title banner from last year, during some sort of half time presentation.
It would not be the first time they did this.

They'll probably drag it around on the floor like they did in the past. You know, just how every school celebrates a title.

Massillon has a great chance to win that game!! If I am not mistaken the last time we beat the bulldogs in bball was when we had Pitman, Lancaster, Crable, and company in 2002!!??? It is time for a WIN!!!
Before that was maybe 1992 or 93-- Rufus Williams and Maurice Cunningham!!!

monte81,
That was twice in the 2002-2003 regular season, 64-54 at the Canton Field House and 73-69 in the district title game at the Civic Center. Shawn Crable had 22 points, 10 rebounds, and 12 blocks in the district title game.
Massillon outscored Canton McKinley 50-47 in the second half of that game but had to survive a late Bulldogs 10-0 run to get the win. That was a WILD game that featured fouls, dunks, big plays, two wild fans being ejected from the game in a span of 30 seconds late in the fourth quarter and one big fight outside the Civic Center after the game.
It should be interesting Tuesday night.

Sounds like every McKinley basketball game I've witnessed. But anyway back to the topic at hand.

I think Massillon has an excellent chance this year for one reason no big man for the puppies. It should be a very athletic game and very fast paced. I'm sure the Tigers will love to pound the pups and a certain transfer player. Seeing that you really can't name names here what happened to one of the Massillon players, I heard he had a two games suspension but he has been gone longer then that,

No big man for the puppies?
Senior center 6'7" Leo Turpin who has been playing great basketball for the puppies the last few games.A MONSTER game against Warren Harding.
And the game is at THERE HOUSE! I believe a 40 game winning streak at the Field House. It will be very tough knocking off the puppies I believe.:crap:

TigerPaw,
Here are some key matchups to watch out for Tuesday's game:
Matchup 1: Michael Porrini vs. Canton McKinley fans. This matchup will be no question one to watch for. Porrini is capable of closing the mouths of opposing fanbases and a good example of that is the first game against Perry last year. Porrini knows just how Canton McKinley fans can really be and the one thing that impresses me about him is that he knows from having played against fanbases that have had a hatred for him. He plays really well against fans that have a sense of hostility against him.
Matchup 2: Canton McKinley guards vs. Massillon guards. This will be an interesting matchup as Bulldogs guards will try to bring the pressure, the same pressure that Massillon's will try to bring. It will be a fast, hard, and physical game by the backcourts of both teams.
Matchup 3: Canton McKinley leader Greg Malone vs. Massillon commander Matt Creamer. Massillon is playing great basketball right now and they again are a big reason as to why they will eventually contend with Canton McKinley for the Bulldogs' district title once again. While there is no bad blood between the coaches, Creamer is aware that his team will not receive such a compassionate welcome once they come on the floor. Creamer has been involved in 14 games against Canton McKinley as a head coach while this will be Malone's first as the Bulldogs general. The first half will definitely be of great importance in this contest.

This could be one of the lowest attended Mass - Mck games. With everyone staying up late Monday night to watch the Bucks, many will stay home on Tuesday.

Porrini is one of the best PG's in the State,no doubt!
However, the same defensive pressure that Hoover swept Massillon with the pups will probably duplicate.:ohno:
If Leo Turpin(6'7")plays like he has latley,it will present problems for the Tigers.
I believe the pups have more depth than the Tigers and the game is at THERE HOUSE! This will be hard to overcome.Porrini will have to take over this game for the Tigers to get the win IMO.

Tiger Paw,
At least Porrini knows which fans are and which ones are not b.s. He's been in places where most fans try to make him out as the enemy (remember the two games against Perry). I know first hand from many interviews with the knowledgeable Massillon shooting guard, who carries a 3.8 average in the classroom. He makes my job twice the easier...it's like having a reliable closer on the mound for the ninth inning.
Matchup 1 will be the most important of the three matchups I have listed and could go a long way in how Tuesday night turns out.
P.S. The last time a Canton McKinley-Massillon game sold out at the Field House was back in the 2002-2003 season. By the way, I don't want to scare you but Turpin is 6'8'' and reminds me of current Rutgers and former Bulldogs center Adrian Hill.
