Akron was a great fit for Alleman.

Yes we remember Andy Alleman. The draft gurus project him as a third or fourth round pick.
From Mike Rasor on ohio.com:
"Andy Alleman said he didn't get anything really cool for Christmas.
It was the day after when he received an invitation to the NFL Combine in the mail.
The event, Feb. 21 through 27, includes about 10 players at each position most likely to be drafted.
If you remember, Domenik Hixon was not invited last year, but the Broncos still drafted him in the fourth round.
Alleman might have even higher potential. NFLDraftScout.com lists him as a third or fourth rounder and the fourth-best guard in the draft. The site also says his stock is rising.
If you haven't noticed, the Cleveland Browns could really use two guards. They will probably go through free agency for one, the draft for the other. You might see Alleman follow Charlie Frye north on I-77.
"It would be nice to go there," Alleman said. "Believe me."
"I just had a conversation today with Andy Alleman -- a Zips lineman who quietly has snuck up the draft boards this season.
He has an agent and plans to train for the Pro Combine at Velocity Sports in Connecticut. A lot of scouting Web sites have him as a top-10 offensive guard in the 2007 NFL Draft. He will play in the Las Vegas All-American Classic, but declined an invitation to the Hula Bowl.
When Bill Polian, the Indianapolis Colts general manager, attended the Akron-Buffalo game, he was there to watch Alleman. Same goes for Buddy Nix, the assistant GM for the San Diego Chargers.
To give you a little background, Alleman was a defensive lineman at Pitt, who transferred to Akron with J.D. Brookhart and Luke Getsy.
In just two years as an offensive lineman, Alleman has the attention of scouts across the country. He should receive an invitation to the combine in February. His agent, Joe Linta, has heard some teams have pegged Alleman as a second-rounder.
Being somewhat slender for an offensive guard, Alleman wants to add about 10 pounds on his 295-pound, 6-foot-4 frame. Any less and teams might pigeon-hole him as a zone blocker.
I think it's safe to say Alleman will be the highest Zips player drafted this year. Where? My guess is late third, but what do I know? "
Various boards have him ranked anywhere from the #10 to the #20 OG's in the country.

Alleman has really bulked up since he was a 6'5'', 235 lb. fullback at North Canton Hoover before transferring to Massillon and being a defensive tackle.

For you Shep bashers, I remember the conversation Shep had with Andy when he transferred to Akron. It was in the coaches locker room at the stadium. He made the suggestion of bulking up, getting stronger and playing offensive guard. Andy's odds of getting to "The League" as a O-lineman were better than other positions. Sounds like it was a great idea.

TigerCoach!
That's the way to hit them Shep bashers in the jaw...Trinidad-style! That was just like Felix Trinidad's textbook left-hook that dropped Fernando Vargas four times out of five in their 2000 title bout (I still think Trinidad should have KO'd Oscar De La Hoya...he had the power to do it)!

Unlike some Tiger coaches, Shepas was willing "to put his neck on the line" for his players. The only time it burned him was with Billy Relford.

We need more of that in Tigertown-- putting necks on the line!! The players do it every week and I expect the coach to do the same!! Andy was a hard worker and desearves a shot to make it!!! He was a hellva High school OLB noone could run outside on that team with he and Crable-- remember the Warren Scrimmage?? Clarett had about 33 yards!

I remember the good stuff TC-- Clarett was an all american and I really wanted to see if the Tigers could keep him contained--it was only a scrimmage but they held him in check that day!
