Just read in the Ann Arbor News and the Detroit Free Press that Shawn Crable will be returning to Michigan next year. Maybe he'll be Massillon's next All-American! Can't wait to see what he does in the Rose Bowl!

It would be really sweet to hear "Crable the Butkus Award winner from perennial high school powerhouse Massillon, Ohio."

Same teams, same Rose Bowl, same USC domination, same old story. The momentum was with USC all game long and Michigan just couldn't match it.
It was like watching the 2004 Rose Bowl all over again.

liner,
Michigan hit their peak on the season with a 47-21 win over #2 Notre Dame and sustained it till the Ohio State game and the Rose Bowl.

Carr made no adjustments at halftime after jerrett had 6 catches for 66 yards in the 1st half. 5 running plays for USC in the 2nd half with quick passes to stop U. of M rush defense!! Michigan DB's were toasted all day and probably watched all the double moves OSU used to get free. Also the Oline played horrible.
You better come to play against USC--They deserved that butt kicking for lack of preperation and intensity.

I guess you missed it when Crable hit Booty and made him fumble.

I thought Crable looked pretty good, four tackles, two tipped passes and caused a fumble. Also made a nice hit on the QB. I didn't think the coverage was terrible on that pass (the one that set up a touchdown). I thought it was a real nice play by USC.

Critics only see the negative!! The only thing missing from the Michigan gameplan is somebody forgot to tell the oline and DB's that they had a game yesterday!!!!

It's not really clear who blew what coverage on that touchdown - that whole side of the defense looked confused (as they did many times) and I don't think he was making the calls on the field. He looked really good on pass coverage of a TE converted from WR, showing his speed. He had as good a game as anyone for Michigan who, as a team, stunk against USC!
Crable will go no later than the 3rd round in '08. There's a good chance he'll be one of three former Tigers in uniform on Sundays in '08.

Michigan should have blitzed Crable on virtually every passing down. Booty picked their secondary apart. For all his accolades, I just don't get what people see in Leon Hall. Some scouts are talking about him as a top ten pick and the top DB in the country. He got burned time and time again by good WR's. He and Morgan Trent might be the most overrated tandem in college football.

MTown,
You definitely was watching the same game I was. Those corners got beat on the same moves in the OSU game--Double moves! Blitzes would of helped instead of the zone English ran-- THey didnt move Shawn around the line, blitz, etc,... but still performed individually well by the numbers---Burgess has not showed up the last 2 games--they looked bad on both sides of the ball!!

MTown,
Dwayne Jarrett, Patrick Turner, and Steve Smith are physically strong receivers with phenomenal talent. Jarrett is a second version of Mike Williams (former USC receiver) and Smith is a second version of Keary Colbert (former USC receiver).
Man, I'm tired of seeing USC. Two times in four years is enough for this man.

For all the national interest that the Michigan D got all year, I was really only impressed with 4 players. Crable (who is disgustingly misused), Woodley, Branch, and Harris.
Crable might not be your prototypical Big Ten LB, but he is athletic enough to make an impact on D if you move him around. He should have been blitzing wayyyy more. Michigan was content to sit back and let Booty pick him apart, and Booty is not nearly as good as Leinart was. Woodley was basically non-existant. The one guy who was active was Harris, who I love. I hate Michigan, but I like that guy. He brings it.
That secondary is just awful. I can't believe more teams weren't able to exploit it during the season. Jenkins and Smith from Ohio State are much better and get way less pub.
