Ohio comes in at number 5. I think with much bigger populations, states like Texas and California have an obvious advantage.
Ohio, with nine NFL titles and 21 NFL Hall of Famers ranks behind Florida, with three Super Bowl wins and seven NFL Hall of Famers in the Pro category. I don't understand this unless it is going by more recent success.

I'm NOT going to bother reading this article....
I'm sensing someone (the author?) could / would make an argument that Indiana is a "great" football state because Notre Dame is located there.

Ah yes, Texas has those illustrious AFL titles. :jestera: Here's a portion of what was written:
In addition to the Pro Football Hall of Fame in Canton, Ohio has excellent high school programs such as Moeller, St. Ignatius, Glenville, Colerain and La Salle."
LaSalle? LaSalle! Freaking LaSalle! End of discussion...

I couldn't believe that Massillon and McKinley were not mentioned. What has Glenville done?

I suspect they used almanacs and encyclopedias for most of their "research." To list LaSalle and Glenville as Ohio elites, they have obviously never personally seen Ohio high school football.

I think once you read this article and then go to Ohio and read Glenville and
LaSalle on the list of excellent high school programs that is all you needed right there to know this article is worthless.

I emailed them and said "how could you talk about ohio High School football without mentioning the The Massillon tigers and Canton McKinley Bulldogs"--I went on to say not mentioning these storied programs laughs at your #5 position and feel disrespected by the ranking!
The article is nor an accurate assessment of Ohio Football

The article seems flawed also because it seems like states with more DI schools (and a bigger population) seemed to be a positive gain for states in whatever formula they used. Shouldn't quality of the programs have more to do with it?
