I hope you don't work with PDC. He claims Ignatius is down every year in football and we know the accuracy of that assessment.

He fails to mention "every year" is from 1917 through 1987.

Ignatius lost to the Pups 39-32 last week in an extremely sloppy contest. The Tigers, while getting some wins, have also been inconsistent as of late. It will be interesting to see what happens.

longtimefirsttime,
Cleveland St. Ignatius is 1-2 on the year. I wasn't at the McKinley game but I heard about it far as I'm concerned.
The Porrini tandem along with the play of Brian Gamble and Justin Turner will be too much. Add in Massillon's speed and the Tigers will be 5-1 going into next Saturday's match-up with Central Catholic.

good game tonight. massillon goes on an 8-0 run to close out the first half and tie the game at 28. we go up 11 in the 3rd and let the cats get it down to 1. close game the rest of the way, but if we make our free throws we win by 10 or more.

The three-throw has been an achilles heel for the Tigers for years; maybe an in-house free-throw camp would help.

true, but this is something a player can practice on thier own time, especially if they know its a weakness.

Ignatius will not be down in football in 2007.
Congrats to the Tigers for the win last night in basketball.

Unfortunately they'll be out playing street ball shooting 3's or slamming it rather than practice foul shots.

To an extent this is true. However, to non-basketball players like me, it never occured to me the difference of shooting them in a game until I heard Tim Duncan talk about it. He talked about how different it is in game situations making free throws when you are physically and mentally tired. Shooting free throws on your own doesn't simulate the game situation. You need to be shooting them in practice after running and banging around for awhile so that they get used to shooting them when you are tired.

Shooting 7 for 19 from the foul line is not going to cut it in most games. In the end it came down to the Tigers being too quick for Ignatius. The Tigers also did well at keeping their composure when the Wildcats would make a run.

longtimefirsttime,
My props to you, MTown, and Bambo being at the game. Massillon's 8-0 run at the end of the second quarter and the 6-0 run at the start of the third quarter was huge.
And Justin Turner's two dunks......PHENOMENAL! He and Michael Porrini are real crowd-pleasers!!
Next for the Tigers is Central Catholic, whom they defeated 62-56 last year. Massillon used runs of 6-0, 8-0, and 10-0 to win that game.
