FROST SUSPENDED: Ohio State tight end Marcel Frost was suspended for the upcoming season for violating team rules.
Athletic department officials declined to comment on the nature of the violation. Frost will remain on scholarship and will be eligible to rejoin the team next season, school spokesman Dan Wallenberg said Wednesday.

I've been looking but havn't seen what he actually was suspended for. All I'm getting is "violation of team rules". We still have guys that can play the position but it will be a hit. Fortunately the loss in on offense where we are loaded. It would hurt a lot worse if we lost a starter on defense.

Losing Frost will hurt with double TE sets. They're looking to plug Rory Nicol into Frost's position.
Still no official word as to what happened, but I have heard that this was not his first violation.
With Frost going down, there's not many left from the 2003 recruiting class.

I was hoping Tressel would move Roy Hall to TE and give OSU a premier TE that can stretch the defense and has exceptional hands. At 6'3" 240 he's plenty big enough to block for the run when the O is in "obvious" passing situations, chip and release, be on the field for 2 TE sets, and he would cause major matchup difficulties for the opponents.
OSU certainly has enough talent, speed and depth at the SE and WR positions to allow for the change.
I'll defer to TigerCoach with regards to my opinion since he knows a lot more about what it takes to make the transition to TE.

TwbT-
Roy Hall's name is being tossed around as a TE. Depth is great!

why is it that they can break the rules and still remain on scholarship??? that doesn't seem right...if it were my kid that violated school rules, he / she would be kicked out...what's with that???

A followup story on the Tight End position.

An excerpt:
"However, rather than go back to the drawing board, tight ends coach John Peterson still feels confident about his charges this season."
C'mon Keno, admit it. You're secretly writing about the Buckeyes. I understand it. Even Michigan fans want to hop on the Buckeyes bandwagon.

Has any news been released as to what the young man actually did? How odd that we are waiting to hear "the rest of the story" about this and the Brown's situation:bomb:

The Rep. is saying that Frost has transferred to I-AA Jackson State. I still haven't heard what exactly he did to get suspended.

Frost told The Clarion-Ledger newspaper in Jackson that he had "made a bad decision at Ohio State and it cost me."

These guys NEVER learn, until it's too late. NO REASON for a kid from Ohio State, not to know better. They've seen enough examples !!:bomb:

DAWGH8R,
Let's not forget about Ira Guilford and Louis Irizarry as well. They made mistakes and it cost them Ohio State careers.
At least Lloyd Carr hasn't had to worry about that kind of stuff with his legion of Wolverines!
