Good. We don't need soccer in Ohio. We play football.

What is so bad about a proposed soccer facility? There are plenty of people, kids and adults alike, that would have benefited from it.

The Cleveland-Akron area needs another stadium with 15K seats to host playoff games. This would have been a great venue.

I wonder why they wouldn't let the voters decide.

Regardless, I think it is still wishful thinking that MLS would put a team in Cleveland any time soon. What would have happened if the stadium was built and then Cleveland didn't get an expansion team? Then it may be used for an occasional high school playoff game and sit empty the rest of the time.

I bet the Stark County player of the year would disagree.

I think a big reason that nobody is mentioning is that The University of Akron would like to build a new stadium on campus as soon as they can. Having 2 new stadiums funded by tax dollars within 10 miles of each other would be an issue.

Why would Charles Baab disagree with that? He doesn't play soccer.

I bet the entire Massillon Soccer program would disagree as well, TigerCoach.

Classy post. Too bad you can't support a Massillon student just because he may play a sport you don't care for.
:glare:

Do you at least support the volleyball team since volleyball is the most popular and most played sport in the world?

Good comment. I don't know why you can't contribute something more meaningful like this to the thread instead of bashing soccer.

You are right that it could be a major reason why. I suspect that another reason is that MLS wants 2 more teams in the next few years and Cleveland may be number 4 or 5 on the list. Why risk building a stadium if the major tennant might not be there?

They should put it on the ballot for the voters.
