What Everyone Should Know About Massillon Proud

This site is privately owned by one individual (Obiefan). It is not owned by, nor affiliated with, Massillon Public Schools or any booster club. We do however strive at all times to be respectful of these organizations as their cooperation is crucial to our success, and our support contributes to their success.
All funding for the site comes from private donations and our sponsors' advertising fees. The administrator and moderators serve strictly as volunteers and receive no monetary compensation for their efforts. Our reward is the feeling that we are giving back to the community. However, Obiefan does somewhat benefit from funds acquired through Massillon Proud, most often by purchasing hardware, software, or services which will ultimately benefit the website further.

Forum Rules That Carry Infraction Penalties

Users of the forums are asked to read and understand the following rules. These are intended to outline what constitutes unacceptable behavior. It is our aim to provide a high quality, friendly environment for our members. Anyone who breaks these rules will be subject to receiving an infraction and eventually having their posting privileges removed.

*These rules are in addition to the standard website rules, called "Terms of Service", outlined at this url:
[Only Registered Users Can See Links.]

Items in this document are equally as important as the rules in the Terms of Service document. Each user who successfully activated membership in the Massillon Proud forums acknowledged and agreed to abide by the Terms of Service agreement, as well as any other rules brought forth by either the site administrator, or moderators.

1. No Flaming or Name Calling (Infraction Value: 1 point, which will expire after 60 days.)
This includes making personal attacks against other members, verbal abuse, making disparaging remarks about others' family members, starting knowingly offensive topics, mocking or being offensive towards someone. Be respectful of other posters. Do not involve yourself in arguments or flaming threads with other members. Such posts or topics will be removed by a moderator on sight. If you see others bashing/fighting, please use the "Report Post" feature, which is in the top right corner of each and every forum post. Your reporting the post does not indicate to the alleged offender your identity, so please, don't hesitate to use this feature.

2. No Offensive Language (Infraction Value: 1 point, which will expire after 60 days.)
We do not allow the use of direct profanity on the forums. The moderators are on the look out for anyone who constantly uses offensive language. Please respect those who do not want to read swear words and vulgarities and avoid the use of such language in your posts. Lead our youth by example by not using offensive language. After all, this is a web site dedicated to high school sports.

3. No Explicit "Adult" Material (Infraction Value: 1 point, which will expire after 60 days.)
This includes but is not limited to; pornographic material or links, sexually explicit references or images, or excessive use of sexual innuendo in posts. Remember that we have visitors of all ages, please respect this fact when you post. Once again, lead our youth by example.

4. No Blatant Off Topic Posting (Infraction Value: 1 point, which will expire after 60 days.)
Postings added to an existing message thread should be "on topic". If your posting does not relate to an existing thread, please start a new one. If a thread has gone totally off topic then it is likely to end up being locked.

5. No Using AlTeRnAcApS (Infraction Value: 1 point, which will expire after 60 days.)
As with all rule violations, your post will also be deleted.

6. Do Not Repost Any Removed Content (Infraction Value: 1 point, which will expire after 60 days.)
If you knowingly repost content that had just been removed by a moderator, you will receive an infraction.

7. No Spamming (Infraction Value: 1 point, which will expire after 60 days.)
Spamming the boards will not be tolerated. What constitutes spam includes the following: using the forum to post advertisements for unrelated websites, products or services, posting large numbers of one worded posts or posts containing large empty spaces, starting identical threads in multiple forums, posting solely for the purpose of increasing your post count, to 'bump' a topic or to aggravate and annoy other members.

8. Absolutely No Injury Reports or Comments (Infraction Value: 2 points, which will expire after 60 days.)
We will give no aid or comfort to the enemy (i.e. the other teams) as to the status of injuries. It is our duty to protect our injury reports, every bit as much as not disclosing a game plan.

9. No Negative Threads or Posts During the Season (Infraction Value: 2 points, which will expire after 90 days.)
The goal of the forums is clearly stated to be "for the promotion of Massillon Sports". Please refrain from openly negative and/or critical comments until after the season. This includes all the groups involved i.e. the team, coaches, event staff, band, cheerleaders etc.

10. No Negative Threads or Posts About a Student or Their Families (Infraction Value: 2 points, which will expire after 90 days.)
We have a zero tolerance policy about mentioning a student by name and attacking or making any negative comment about that student's athletic ability, character, personality or family. It does not matter if its "common knowledge" or has been reported in a newspaper, keep it off the forums. The kids read the site regularly, and many of them are members.

11. No Public Questioning of a Moderator's Actions (Infraction Value: 2 points, which will expire after 90 days.)
Moderation actions are not up for debate or public scrutiny. Any topics or posts intended to question moderator actions (whether justified or not) will be closed/deleted and the member will be dealt with severely, first with infractions and then being permanently banned from the forums.

Infraction Levels and Bans
Active points are points which have not yet expired.
Accumulating three (3) active points will trigger an automatic ban for three (3) days.
Accumulating six (6) active points will trigger an automatic ban for ten (10) days.
Accumulating ten (10) active points will trigger an automatic ban for three (3) weeks.
Active points DO NOT expire when a ban takes effect. Points only become inactive when the time period assigned to them has passed. For example, if a member accumulates three (3) points which trigger an automatic ban of three (3) days, then accumulates three (3) more points before any of the first three (3) expire, an automatic ban of ten (10) days will be triggered.

Etiquette

1. Please post topics in the correct forum - The site is divided into different forums so that discussions can be grouped based on their subjects. The moderators will move threads that are inappropriate to the forum in which they have been started.

2. Please choose your thread title to accurately describe the content/topic of the thread.

3. Do not misuse the 'report' button - The site staff highly appreciates members using the "report" button to let us know about problems on the forums that require our attention. Please however do not overuse this feature. Reporting someone who you disagree with or who you simply don't like to try and get them into trouble constitutes abuse of the report system. Likewise, overly excessive reporting of duplicate news threads, spelling errors or other trivial things is strongly discouraged. Please only report issues that genuinely require a moderator's attention.

Site Moderation Policy

1. Massillon Proud and its staff are under no obligation to moderate or police these forums. Non-enforcement or failure of strict enforcement of the rules outlined on this page should not be construed as a waiver of rights by Massillon Proud. We will moderate only when deemed necessary and at our sole discretion.

2. Massillon Proud reserves the right to perform any action which includes, but is not limited to: moving, closing, editing or deleting of any posting, profile, avatar and/or signature for any reason whatsoever at our sole discretion, without prior notification or explanation to the user. Keep your posts in line and you'll be fine.

3. Please be respectful when interacting with our forum moderators and administrator. They all work for free to make this a better place.

4. If you have a question/problem regarding a moderator action, the proper process is to send that moderator a Private Message (PM) in a respectful and non-demanding/non-threatening tone. Abusive PM's sent to moderators could result in the sender being banned. If you cannot reason with a moderator, please contact the administrator. Do not contact the administrator unless you have first attempted to resolve the matter with the moderator.

5. The moderators have a responsibility to enforce these rules based on the guidelines they have received, but they will vary in the enforcement of the rules. Moderators reserve the right to take whatever actions they deem appropriate for a given situation. Please remember that the moderators are simply trying to do their best and that they may occasionally make mistakes.

Account Policy

1. Each forums member is limited to one account/username/alias. Registering multiple usernames and posting under all of them as different people will not be tolerated. Anyone caught doing this will have all related usernames disabled and their posting privileges removed. Registering several names in order to circumvent being banned or removed from the forum will result in an ip address ban. This means you nor others will be able to access the site from the same computer again.

2. Creating additional accounts while under suspension or under review will automatically result in all accounts being banned permanently, even if you're later discovered to be not at fault.

3. Do not impersonate other individuals or falsely represent yourself. Creating multiple accounts for the purposes of impersonating others or misrepresenting yourself will result in all accounts being banned.

Copyright, Advertising, Slander/Libel, Linking & Other Legal Matters

1. Do not post personal information (i.e. addresses, phone numbers, passwords, or any other private information) without the express permission of the individual.

2. Observe all copyright laws when posting copyrighted material. If the material does not belong to you, do not post the full article/text. Post only the introductory paragraph then credit the source/author and link to the article. Fully follow this rule. Example: Do not cut and paste a whole article from a newspaper, as you are separating their content from their paid advertisers. We would not want to lessen our advertisers exposure, and respect the other entity's right to the same respect.

3. Do not post pornography or links to pornography or obscene materials of any form here.

4. Do not post slanderous, libelous, or other untrue statements about anyone on these boards. Massillon Proud does not monitor these forums closely for such content and we hereby disclaim all liability associated with these types of postings on our forums. In other words, the content of topics contained within the site are expressly the opinions of the persons posting and Massillon Proud accepts no responsibility for the content. Furthermore, Massillon Proud may be required by law enforcement or judicial authorities to provide information on individual users to the appropriate governmental authorities. In matters involving a danger to personal or public safety, Massillon Proud may voluntarily provide information to the proper governmental authorities.

5. Do not post direct links to any illegal materials, including but not limited to: illegal software, viruses, worms, trojans, spyware, unauthorized music or video files, etc.

All the rules outlined above are to be understood and followed. Please review Massillon Proud's Terms of Service and Privacy Policy.

Massillon Proud may modify and amend to these rules and terms at any time without prior notice. We will make efforts to make new changes known, but it is your responsibility to periodically check for updates.
