Ok, drove by a house on Irvington NE last night-super bright LED multi-colored lights on the house will almost blind you!! Drive by and you'll see what I mean!

One good thing-they ARE on really straight outlining the house.

Understated is the way to go for exterior displays. I decorate my place with a red bow on each porch column, garland (not lighted) and a half a dozen white floods to light everything. Looks nice and everything is up in about 45 minutes.

Inside is traditional and compliments the house. The Christmas season really fits grand old homes (Victorians, Georgians, Edwardians etc).

We too went the simple and elegant is best approach.

One air powered snow man, wreath and bow on each window, 7 white flood lights, and about 20 christmas ornaments on a lilac bush.

Total prep time, 1 hour.

Icecicle lights, garland, spiral christmas tree out on the front of the house and Colored rope lights and a lighted wreath on the back deck. Took about an hour to setup.

My my, I hope that these houses you speak of don't happen to belong to fellow MP posters! How about just giving credit to people for getting out there and decorating? I thought that the Christmas season was supposed to bring out the best in people; you know, peace, love, joy........good will towards ALL men and all of that?

A Blessed Christmas To ALL!

Exactly what I was thinking but I didn't want to cause any controversy by saying anything.

If it wasn't so cold, I'd have all of our lights and decor up too, but mid-70's makes it tough! LOL

Seriously, I had no "it's so cold" excuses this year and had the lights up the day after Turkey Day.

Merry Christmas..

I wonder if they will have the electricial problem that is preventing the navitity being put up in City Hall Park fixed in time for Christmas. Maybe we should all call the park dept, or maybe a local electrition can help them.

Folks you must see the awesome Christmas decorations on State Ave. N.E. (between 1st and Amherst). They truly represent the spirit of the season.

Peace on Earth and Happy Holidays to all.

Care to post a picture of your display for us to comment on?

Seeing as I live on Irvington, I'd like to see if they are referring to my house. :suspect:

All of the lights look so great. I was just commenting the other day about how so many more people decorate now. With the light being pretty inexpensive (especially loading up the day after Christmas for next year) and with so many different things out there to choose from

Best neighborhood to look at lights -- my own. I took my grandson for a “night walk” to check out the lights. It was fun to just walk and look. Everything looked so pretty.

And, my Mom just told me that the Rezzy is just beautiful. Will have to make sure to take that in.

This is quite an impressive display…..guess they found some great after Christmas sales!!

I like driving around and looking at all the lights. You will never see my house decorated like that. Way too much work.

I like just about any type of display except for the all-white ones (borrrring) and when people buy like 8 or 9 of those inflatable ones. A couple look good, but I've seen some houses where the entire front yard is cluttered with inflatable things.

I've seen lot of really pretty ones out this year so far. I have noticed also that many people are getting away from the all white lights, which I think is good. That look was very 1990's and I think it's finally going away.

We usually do our house in blue and green lights, with white lights that trim the roof of the hosue and the deck by the water and have a few animated reindeer and a couple lighted evergreens down by our boat dock, which looks nice, since it reflects in the water/ice.
