I know that Winky Wright is coming off an important win over Ike Quartey but to call out the #1 fighter at 154...WBC Super Welterweight Champion, Oscar De La Hoya?
Cutting down Shane Mosley (twice) at 154 when he was the #1 fighter at super welterweight is one thing but De La Hoya......that's asking a little too much.
I don't see De La Hoya going back to 160...after his devastating 9th round KO loss to Bernard Hopkins two years ago. Wright's best target is Jermain Taylor (provided if he gets by Kassim Ouma) or Ouma...as Wright is the mandatory challenger for Taylor's title!

Wright is getting too old to be fighting.
And calling out De La Hoya is not the right thing to be doing. That fight against Hopkins-the KO was inevitable. DeLa Hoya looked bad the whole fight- I think it's a miracle he made it to the 9th round-it looked like he was on dancing with the stars the way he worked the ring in between bells.

TigerLoverFromAfar,
Since you brought up Mosley...I'd thought I'd give you this clip...

Enjoy!
By the way...De La Hoya is staying at 154...I don't see him going back to 160.

Please stick to Tiger football, something you actually know something about. Wink absolutely destroyed Sugar Shane and he beat the hell out of Jermain Taylor too, although Keno won't admit it.
And Saturday night, with yours truly sitting three rows deep, he butchered Ike Quartey to death. Too old? I think not. And the call out to Oscar was a joke, guys. Golden Boy Promotions was promoting the fights Saturday night at the St. Pete Times Forum.

i guess I should get off here and fold laundry then.
But before I go- CarlE how can you not think that Mosley is the s---?
With a record of 43 wins, 37 by KO, and only 4 losses.
he has won titles in 3 weight divisons and is the only fighter to have beaten DeLaHoya twice.
How can you compare Wright who until recently never fought anyone?
Robert Frazier
Jason Papillion
Bronco McKart
Juan Carlos Candelo
Angel Hernandez WHO ARE THESE GUYS?
beating Trinidad and Mosley was his only claim to fame aside from holding IBF, WBA, and WBC Jr. Middlweight titles at the same time.
He kiled Trinidad, and Mosley the first time, but the second time one judge had it at a draw, the other 113-115. So he hardly beat him that time.
he has a powerful punch and being a southpaw has it's obvious advantages.
which now it is all about the $$$ to him, since he has formed his own promotion company and will only fight with his own company doing the promoting.
He would kill Oscar now.

LOL, and don't forget to put your apron on before you get into the kitchen to start Kevin's dinner. And by the way, you're NOT using enough starch on his shirts!! You are TOO FUNNY!!! Anyway, the only reason Wink fought those guys is because all of your freaking so called heroes avoiding him like the plague. They were scared to death of his left hand, stand-up style. And don't take my word for it. Go ask Keno's father.
Anyway, make sure the table is set before you come back on here and start posting!! Of COURSE, Jo Ann this is all in jest. All of it!!

CarlE,
I am well aware of the Wright-Taylor fight. I personally believed Wright won that fight. One thing you never knew about me......I judge fights at home and I had Wright on top. The decision didn't go as it should have and it happens...like Holyfield-Lewis 1...Whitaker-Chavez...De La Hoya-Mosley 2...Tapia-Ayala...you name it.
I've seen my share of worse decisions in boxing. The best knockout I have seen.....see for yourself: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kIPP47GI3F0
Now this featured the #1 and #2 light heavyweights in the world...it's only fitting the #1 fighter recorded this!

my mother is just like you-- she's an sports encyclopedia all the time! We hated to come home after games because you could of had 15 tackles playing like Spielman, played like jordan, etc,... and she would still find something wrong with the performance!!!!! Your game critique sheet!!!!
TLFA--- fighters have been avoiding W. Wright like they did B. Hopkins in the 90's!! Now he is 40+ everyone wants to fight him now!!!!!!
My personal favorite was P. Whitiker in his prime and now i like Mayweather jr. because he talks it and walks it-- he just dont have punching power!!! My absolute favorite was Marvin Hagler-- pound for pound one of the best ever!!!

My favorite fighter in the 90's was none other than the man who was the most devastating finisher in the sport and when the momentum was with him...there wasn't a single fighter capable of laying a glove on him.
Boxing 101: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yUEqswcK5HU
Vargas pays the price...and the man secures his dominance at 154!

longtimefirsttime,
I just about flipped when I read the ESPN link. Morrison should not be in the ring but who am I to say. I remember seeing him in the early 80's and developed into a favorite of mine before his fifth-round savage knockout loss to Ray Mercer.
Best wishes to him.

longtimefirsttime,
That would be a big asset for Showtime but it will contend with the Zab Judah-Miguel Cotto welterweight title fight on HBO PPV.
And Roy Jones is getting close to the end of his career. This fight will tell me if he has what it takes to put himself in another position for a light heavyweight title (currently held by Antonio Tarver conqueror Bernard Hopkins).
