KENT, Ohio - Kent State coach Doug Martin signed a four-year contract Monday after leading the Golden Flashes to a second-place finish in Mid-American Conference East Division.
Kent State finished the season 6-6 with a 5-3 record in the MAC after winning only one game the year before.
Martin, 43, who just finished his third season at Kent State, had two years left on his original contract. He is now under contract through the 2010 season.
Kent State's five straight wins in September and October had them in contention for the conference title for the first time in years.
