I've had a hard time finding much about who the likely candidates are for the QB job at OSU next year. Is Boeckman likely to be the frontrunner or someone else?

They've also got Schoenhoft from St X and freshman Antonio Henton. I have no idea what each brings to the table.

i think boeckman will start not only b/c he is talented but also b/c he's been around the system for awhile.
i saw schoenhoft play a few times in hs, but was never really impressed with him.....not sure how he's progressed in college.
i've heard that henton is the next smith; however, he's still young so i doubt he'll go into next season as the starter.

Probably going to be Boeckman. The spring game will tell alot. I would expect a lot of running early on next year with Pittman and Wells along with that dominating defense.

i don't see boeckman starting next season, if he was going to start next year wouldn't you have been getting some snaps this season, schoenoft was the ones getting the snaps after smith and zwick were in, to me it looked like schoenoft was getting some experience to start next season

per osu's website, schoenhoft has played in 2 games while boeckman has played in 3. boeckman also has more pass attempts.

Smith still has 1 more game to play. Lets worry about this after we win the big one.

okay thats all fine and danddy but if you are looking at starting someone next year at QB wouldn't you want him to get ALL of the snaps after Zwick and Smith are in the game? why would you start one 2 games and the other 3 unless you weren't sure with who to start next season, no matter who it is next season they are going to be very inexperienced

Rocco Pentello, the QB at Westerville, is also committed. I also would suspect Boeckman and Schoenhoft would be given an opportunity in the spring to see who emerges.

Pentello is a good QB but no way will he start next year. He had one of the best WR in Ohio to throw to at Westerville South-- BJ Cunningham!! He will be a force by his soph. year. and force Tressel to give him a look at the 1st spot!
What is thought of Gonzo, Ginn, and Pittman leaving early???

I thought ginn would leave, but I am hearing they are predictijng him to be a 3rd round choice because of his size. I say gonzo stays. Pittman stays as well. As far as the qb next year, I wish they had someone waiting in the wings that was more mobile, because that is what opens up the offense is Smiths mobility

Ginn is gone. Pittman and Gonzo stay. We'll still be a top five team without Smith.
Offense will have Pittman/Wells at RB. Gonzo, Hartline, Robiskie, Small at Wr. Nicol returning at TE. The best part is you'll still have Rehring and Boone on the left side of the line.
Defense will have everyone back except for the DT's which will be missed a lot. Anderson Russell will come back from his knee injury too, which will help a ton. We will once again have the best LB's in the country.
If we win on January 8th, and considering the past five years and what is coming down the road...this could very well be the best stretch of football that Ohio State has ever seen.

Gonzo is the better WR and would be a 1st or 2nd rounder! Ginn should stay to develop better route running but Pittman is ready if he wants to go but i think he comes back also!! The defense is solid with Oneil looking like a future all-american at safety!!

you're missing the point. in your original post you said "i don't see boeckman starting next season, if he was going to start next year wouldn't you have been getting some snaps this season, schoenoft was the ones getting the snaps after smith and zwick were in, to me it looked like schoenoft was getting some experience to start next season."
in my last post i pointed out that schoenhoft wasn't getting all the snaps, or even a majority of the snaps.
