AUSTIN (AP) — Texas backup quarterback Jevan Snead will transfer, school officials announced Friday night, leaving the Longhorns with no experienced quarterback behind the injured Colt McCoy for their bowl game.
McCoy, who severely pinched a nerve in the final seconds of a 12-7 loss to Texas A&M, has not yet been cleared by team doctors for whichever bowl game selects Texas, although team trainer Kenny Boyd said Friday he is "progressing extremely well."

"Colt is a great quarterback, and I enjoyed working with him and all the guys on the team," Snead said in a statement released by the school. "Texas is a great place to be. I just think that for me to reach my goal of being a starting quarterback, I need to go somewhere else..."

He can always transfer to Ohio State, but no guarantee he would start there either.
