Is 5 years probation enough?

no talk of him losing his teaching license?
This is an outrage...consensual or not-it is wrong!

In return for his plea and the surrender of his teaching certificate... the story says.

But still only 5 years?

It says that part of his plea deal he had to surrender his license.

I am surprised they didn't charge him with any of the drug related offenses.

Anybody wonder how one gets charged with sexual battery and termed a sexually-oriented offender for consensual sex between 2 adults?

Here's how (from § 2907.03 of the ORC):

"No person shall engage in sexual conduct with another, not the spouse of the offender, when any of the following apply:
...
(7) The offender is a teacher, administrator, coach, or other person in authority employed by or serving in a school for which the state board of education prescribes minimum standards pursuant to division (D) of section 3301.07 of the Revised Code, the other person is enrolled in or attends that school, and the offender is not enrolled in and does not attend that school."

In other words, it's illegal for a teacher in some schools to have sex with students, irrespective of age or consent.

Is this one man the end of the story? If you remember the first news reports, there were several people under investigation for sexual misconduct. And the young lady in question is not an innocent bystander seduced by a lecherous teacher. She is a very mature looking and acting woman who danced at a local strip club and partied with more than one Drage teacher.

Either it's over, or more men are still sweating it out. In any event, they are stupid beyond belief to jeopardize their careers and reputations in this way.

I hadn't heard this. There may be several teachers sweating this out then. I would think that before/during/after things are happening one would be thinking "I could lose my career and my life." Guess that isn't enough motivation to avoid the situation.

The part that amazed me when reading what Obiewan posted was that, by the sounds of it by law, if your a teacher in one district, and you fool around with a student from another district that is of age...its ok. That blows my mind. Did I misread it? That is surely throwing away a TON by any means by doing it.
The sad thing is...this happens so much more than we hear about. Young male teachers have one of the toughest jobs in the world. (dont just say its not hard)...guys are guys and those girls nowadays look for trouble at times. Its a sad and sickening thought, but true.
