All this talk about Massillon not competing with the Big Boys and that our Program is not up to the talent of DIV. I. I sometimes think this is a plan of some to get the Tiger FANS to think that we should join the FED. Our administration, Coaches have all said they favor the FED. To be able to accomplish this evil plan they need to mold public opinion and by talking up that our program is not able to compete.
The TigerDon article shows this not to be true.
From the article by TigerDon.

"4. Massillon - Although the Tigers have never won a playoff state title, they advanced in the final game three times (1980, 1982 and 2006) and their nine regional trophies is the third most of any big school. In fact, Massillon has claimed the bracket crown three times in the past five years, tops among all schools. They have 23 playoff appearances, a success rate of 68%, 78% since 1979."
Let no one say that OUR TIGERS can not compete. GO TIGERS

Great post, Fats. I couldn't agree more. The conspiracy theory lives on. By the way, what is your new screen name going to be in the near future. This one won't be appropriate from what I've been reading.

Other than that, did you enjoy the play Mr. Lincoln?

If we are going to start measuring success in this town other than state titles then whats the difference?

I think what he meant is that we won't FEEL the ultimate success UNTIL there is a state title here. In other words, no stupid Federal League worthless title is going to do anything to satisfy anybody that has Massillon Tiger football ingrained in their blood. That makes sense to me, anyway.

To eliminate ourselves from the Div. I state title would be like Mr. Lincoln deciding to step down to only be a great senator.

We should shoot to be the best or not shoot at all.

Who remembers: "And Rex Hamilton as Abraham Lincoln" ?

I agree Fats, good post. I think the proof is in the pudding, the Tigers have won 3 of the last 5 Regional Championships. That silences the critics, or at least the people who want to get in the Fed.

I agree, a Fed title means very little to me. Basically nothing except to shut some people up.

I think we just agree to disagree on the D2 title being meaningless thing. But I can understand the point of view. I admit I might feel different w/ a couple titles under my belt but hey, I'll be there heart & soul for opening kickoff believing this is the year, like I always have.

Exactly. The Tigers CAN win a title in D-1 and DON'T need the Fed.

I was under the impression you play to be the best team in the state. Winning a state title in a lower division would be like winning the Fed. Massillon can compete with any team any time any where in the United States. Our tradition is being threatened so i hope the powers to be make the right choice

I disagree. Name 1 fed school beside McK that could win a DII Title !!!

I sure don't understand the shame in winning a title that you have been delegated to play for.

Nothing will threaten tradition like three 4-6 seasons in 6 years. Thank God
Coach Stacy is in town, and put a stop to that! It also helps having two exceptional classes, back to back!

I hope NO ONE EVER has to live through a 4 - 6 season !!!

Massillon has had recent losing seasons? I seem to have eliminated that from my memory. Let the good times roll.

The shame is that we can opt in to Div. I. We are not delegated to play in Div. II.
Yes, if we are forced into Div. II, that is a different story. But, for Massillon to drop a Div. on are own, that is what the debate is about.

Hoover has been to the DII championship game......
Perry has a DI final four......
Lake could have had some shots at it......

I'm no fed fan but you may be a bit off on this one......

What year did Hoover play in the DII final? I know they lost to Toledo St Francis in the DI final in '84. Lake has been to the DII title game twice I believe, losing both times.
