How ironic is fate? Our two losses last year were at Fawcett--end of the regular season and in the playoffs. The dogs met their fate twice this year--both on our turf--end of regular season and in the playoffs. Ahhh--sweet revenge.

I heard more than one Mck fan bragging as they entered the stadium how they won state on our field and how great they were this year.
They were pretty quiet as they left.

I heard the OHSAA was once again counting-challenged with the attendance last night.
I suppose they neglected to count the west stands by assuming only the usual 20 die-hard McK fans would show up. They had forgotten that more of them come out of the woodwork to PBTS on occasion.

Yes It was sickening hearing "lets go pups" from the West Stands:puke: .It truly made me want to puke, but hey they got what they deserved.

Well they got what they yelled for as they are going home with both their losses in Tiger stadium. Everything we do they try to copy but they only made it to the semi-finals and we made it to the finals last year. They are always just one step behind us and they see only a-- and feet. Just over 8-thousand was announced. The radio announcers were baffled by that figure. The Mentor QB did an excellent job on their final drive. It sounded like the McKinley DB's were biting on the out and up move most of the night.

Especially after having to listen to that BIG crybaby coach who does the color-commentating on the radio, during the game! I don't know who he is because I don't hardly ever listen to games on the radio, but he was absolutely pathetic. Every single time Mck got a penalty he had something to say about it: "I don't agree with that" or "the kid is just trying to tackle somebody" or "the kid is just playing football" or "that's what they get" (referring to Mentor on a penalty) or "if they throw one more flag down for McK, I'm going onto the field myself"....wah wah wah. He is the most unprofessional and unsportsmanlike announcer I have ever heard in my life!
So I especially loooooooooved it on Mentor's last score, there was nothing but dead silence on his part. And all I could say was "well that's what they(McK) gets!

Hats off to Mentor. All the pressure was on them during the last 8 minutes of the ball game. Their last drive for the go-ahead TD was classic- clutch receptions, solid play calling, fantastic perfromance by Tanski (junior QB).

I listened to the last ten minutes of the game on an Internet feed. Man, you want to talk about a homer-based LOSER. This guy was the most pathetic excuse for an announcer I've EVER heard. Did you hear him when there was the penalty on Mentor's two point conversion after their last score? I thought the idiot was going to either run on the field or start freaking crying like a three year old. Man, he was pathetic.

We went to the game and sat on the Mck side. It was a really great and exciting game, one of the best I have seen. And, a really great ending….if you know what I mean.http://www.thesmilies.com/smilies/winking0017.gif
We had some Mck fans behind us ripping on Massillon some. I just sat there and thought….hmmmm 10-7 / 21-3…..
And, how about Mickey Mouse directing and his glove flying off (2 times)…….
Talk about upstaging your own band.

Yes! I and my son just couldn't get over it! It was like every comment was more pitiful than the last. I think that even his co-announcer was somewhat surprised or embarrassed by his remarks, as he didn't really respond to too much of what "coach" was crying about! I am not sure at all, but I thought someone else on the station referred to "coach" as "John, or Jim, or Johnson, idk, something with a J:scratchchin: I am sure that one of the McK posters know of whom we speak if they would be so kind as to supply his name.

But, not as bad as Jim Muzzy used to be.http://www.thesmilies.com/smilies/sad0004.gif
The WHBC color announcer is the former head football coach from Malone. Joe Palmisano or something like that.

That is correct. He coached in 1993-94, with an overall 9-9-1 record.

I didn't hear about the game on radio but this much can be said: at least the #1 voice of the Tigers, Walt Bronczek isn't like those announcers who are being referred to if that is the case.
If anyone read last year's Independent article on Bronczek, they will see he does his job without resorting to homer status.
I didn't listen to the game but if something like that happened, then there is no respect in that. And I know a few tenets about announcing myself, having done so at WRMU 91.1 for several years on the Mount Union campus.
*By the way, I had the luxury of being in the BEST pressbox in Stark County while I am posting this......the Luther Emery Press Facility!

No one forgot to lock the door. When it comes to media relations, no one can top what Massillon possesses. And I know this for a fact :no1: having majored in the field for five years!
Now my question to you: How stylish do you want to be? You know how stylish I am in pressboxes/press row............
*I'm going to miss that press box till next August  ! I love it inside there!!

I expect the announcers to be homers and don't really mind, but Coach's behavior was just ridiculous - threatening to come out of the press box when flags were thrown, etc.
He was quite a whiner but it did make the loss that much more enjoyable!!

Dr. Strangemind,
High school games can get intense late. You know how it goes. But even at intense times, announcers have to keep their composure.
I don't know if I told you this but someone once told me that I "should cheer for McKinley in the pressbox" because I graduated from that location. The person who said that to me isn't as fundamentally sound as I would have liked to think they were...I don't do cheering in the pressbox as that is unethical of a reporter. But with Massillon fans...it's OK with me because there is pressbox seating for fans inside the East press box.
I have a coolness about myself during heated, intense games. That coolness allows me to do my job without any hitches.
Now my question to you: How stylish do you want to be? You know how stylish I am in pressboxes/press row............*I'm going to miss that press box till next August  ! I love it inside there!!
