In watching the Bungals open this can of whoop-a** on the Browns, does it occur to anybody but me that Crennel is totally clueless on the sidelines? The team never improves, never adjusts, and is totally undisciplined. Crennel does not appear to have figured out the challenge system and has tossed the red flag twice in two pretty obvious situations ... this is not reflective of a well-coached team - I please don't tell me about improvements on the defense ... Crennel is coaching the entire team and is not only the defensive coordinator.

If he keep this up, the Indians will end up hiring him!

And this is why the Browns will continue to suck. It was Palmer's fault, It was Butch's fault, and now it is Romeo's fault... Keep it up, and GO Bengals, one less team to worry about in the division if this is how the Browns are going to keep running the franchise!
BTW, I think the Browns are dealing with what the Bengals dealt with in the 90s... The man in charge, not the coach, is a GREAT businessman, but knows dog doo about football.

No...Romeo doesn't have to go. Savage doesn't have to go. And Frye doesn't have to go. He's still young- he hasn't started a full season yet- he'll get better. The line(like always) is injured, banged up, and he just has to stop forcing it in there when he gets under pressure.
Romeo was on a winning team, he knows how to get things done. Just needs to open the playbook up a bit to let Winslow and Jurivicus get the ball. Savage had some great draft classes when he was the GM of the ravens. They are still stuck with the classes in the butch era. If you haven't noticed, the schedule isn't exactly the easiest in the NFL either. I know this seems like a broken record b/c it's been repeated about every year since the 90's for the browns, but just wait til next year. :heee:

This excerpt from today's Terry Pluto article, sums up my opinion:
"Now, as Frye said, the Browns 'can't keep blaming the coaches.' But the coaches have to do something to bring back a sense of purpose and unity.
In the second half Sunday, as the Browns were being embarrassed by the Bengals, the song Born to be Wild blared over the public address system.
Since the Browns' return, the theme song should be Born to Lose, with Ray Charles singing the blues for the fans. Games such as this are the reason why."

It's a rudderless ship right now. Someone needs to take charge.

This team is out of control. Players on the sidelines on the verge of fist fights (with no apparent intervention by any of the caoches) while the offense can't score on one of the worst defenses in the NFL.
This coach has been over his head for sometime with yesterdays performance on the field and sidelines a clear demonstration of that fact.

I think your wrong and taking the same mentality that has put Cleveland sports in this position. Get new players that will make plays!

I haven't got to watch the Browns much this season. Wimbley seems like he has an upside. I am not sure of the other more recent draft picks, but can we PLEASE draft someone who is even slightly above average for once? Couch, Brown, Warren, Green, Faine, etc. etc. etc.
Oh yea, other than Faine, have we drafted an offensive lineman before say the 6th round?

You are correct. The team's current woes are definitely due in part to the poor draft classes under the Davis regime.

Is Romeo really the problem?
Remember when it was Davis?
Then Couch?
Now Romeo..come on you guys are grasping for straws...they just make bad draft decisons.
If you guys would just hold onto a few players instead of trading everyone you'd have a great O-line-or D-line-or even a good special teams....but you never have the same guy two years in a row...

i honestly think you could peyton manning back there and the browns wouldn't do that much better, their offensive line has been injured all season and that is what their problem is, they need to get an O linemen in the first round of this years draft, if you watch the game half the time frye has no time to throw and has to force things not to take a sack, if the browns finally get an o line to block the running backs will get their yards and frye will be fine and the team will be fine

Melvin Fowler, a center who they thought could play guard was drafted in the 3rd round from Maryland. He is starting on the o-line for Buffalo now.

How much was Winslow?
How about Edwards?
That seems like some cash...

Get rid of Palmer and the problem is solved.
Get rid of Couch and the problem is solved.
Get rid of Davis and the problem is solved.
Get rid of Carthon and the problem is solved.
Get rid of Crennel and the problem is solved.
I have a novel idea.
Why not get five REAL offensive linemen?

Ya know, if we trade these fools.....they'd become instant stars
on their new team. Just our luck!

Yeah IF they traded them. I am sure that Edwards would be a star, I think Winslow is a punk and over rated.

Keep Crennel...he's getting his just due after how his New England Patriots defense kept my Pittsburgh Steelers from winning AFC titles in 2001 and 2004!
What goes around......comes around. The Pittsburgh-Cleveland rivalry speaks:
Cowher 3, Crennel 0.
KEEP HIM IN CLEVELAND!

Easy there guys....I'm not one to defend the Browns and their dumb@ss decisions but a couple of facts here...
Lerner is not a cheap owner. He paid top dollar for Crennel, paid extra to fire Butch, paid a good chunk to get Phil Savage, and spends money on free agents to the max of the salary cap. This is not a situation like the Indians. Lerner's problem is that he is completely disconnected from the team.
Winslow, outside of his all the garbage, is the real deal on the field. The NEVER drops balls and I think he's in the top 5 in TE's for receptions. He plays with some serious fire...and if it wasn't for starting out with a damaged reputation and playing on a horrible team, he might be in the running for the Pro-Bowl. And for you Steelers fans that say he sucks, he would start for you RIGHT NOW and be the best receiver on your team.
And Keno, keep talking all this garbage...because it looks like Cowher is gone after this year. And the talk is that he's going to take a year off from the NFL and would jump at the chance to come back and coach the Browns. That would be your worst nightmare.

MTown,
You're crazy. Cowher had a chance to coach the Browns back when he was young but Art Modell didn't give him the chance. Far as Cowher out of Pittsburgh...we'll see about that, shall we?
Now go finish watching a REAL man.........

P.S. And for the record...Paul Hilton Butch Davis resigned...he wasn't fired by Randolph D. Lerner!

Keno, I've heard the same thing and it was on TV. Cowher wouldn't mind coming back to C-Town.

gotigers1,
I swear more than anything with the blood of Dennis Miller and his Pittsburgh passion inside of me, Cowher coaching at Cleveland? I'll have to take a second look at that.........

At the very least, it's common knowledge that he's done after this year. He's got daughters playing basketball and wants to take a year off to spend time with them. If the timing is right and the Browns job is open...it just might work out for him.

MTown,
Six years ago, I accepted Dennis Miller into my life. I used to think that he was never funny but that changed in 2000. After watching one Monday Night Football game with him as an announcer and then several episodes of Dennis Miller Live...I became hooked. The fact that he was from Pittsburgh also helped.
Let's not forget this man was raised with excellent morals. Growing up in Pittsburgh, he was taught never to smoke, drink, or cuss and to always stand for what he believes in. He is a 1970 graduate of Keystone Oaks High School and a 1974 graduate of Point Park College, where he majored in journalism.
He also has two loving sons and is a five-time Emmy award winning comedian! And his hometown team are still world champions! And if it's Miller Live, then you sure know it's Miller Time! Oh...I'm his #1 fan and I read his books!

MTown,
Let's not push it that far. Even though I am a Muslim...my friends all know I like Miller. I just have to watch what I say because the slightest slip-up could be costly.
I know Miller's tactics. I know him inside and out. I just have to control myself with it.
Miller is from Pittsburgh, PA......Steelertown!!!!!!! The West Coast of PA!!!!!!!!!

Frye has to grow fast...soon. If he doesn't, we need a quarterback that can make good passes and decisions. 3 and outs kill our defense. Defense gets tired and gives up points. Real game killer.
Draft OL and QB. Get better veteran DB help.
Everything else is fine.
Defense will start stronger next year having played as a unit for a full year and benefitting from seeing division opponents more. Adjustments will be made in offseason. Focus will be more on schemes than just learning the defense and each other.
Like baseball, pitcher has advantage the first time around, batters adjust and have improved skill against them after that.
