Militiamen grabbed six Sunnis as they left Friday worship services, doused them with kerosene and burned them alive as Iraqi soldiers stood by, and seven Sunni mosques came under attack as Shiites took revenge for the slaughter of at least 215 people in the Sadr City slum.

A U.S. helicopter opened fire into the Shiite enclave after militiamen fired on it from the ground, residents said. There were no immediate reports of casualties.

.....i have waited for years to vote for john mccain and now he is preaching we can win this war..oh boy.....this is not a battle with terrorist anymore period......we are putting our lives on the line for a foreign civil war......i realize there was international interest [as in money]in our own civil war but did the british or french send troops to gettysburg?.....i wanted mccain i would hear some truth about iraq instead of this bush/cheney/rumsfeld smokesreen....rummy is gone,cheney is quiet and bush is confused in my eyes.....i know john's son joined the marine corps but i really don't see esculation as the answer.......it seems 140,000 is not even half enough......more combat troops begats many more support troops
