I can't remember who is coming from the South, but are there any Private schools left? I really thought the final would bet St. Eds vs. St. X.

I was thinking it happend maybe a year colerain won it all, but I am not certain. It is definately the exception and not the norm.

the year the tigers got beat by Warren Harding at the Rubber Bowl in OT. I think that was 2002.

In '02, Elder won the title- aren't they a parochial?
I don't know, but it's probably the case that Colerain beat a Columbus team in the semis and McK beat Glenville. Columbus has no Div. I parochials, so '04 could be the answer.
Before that, however, it was probably a long time (although who did Upper Arlington and Solon beat in '00 in the semis?).

I'd like to see a complete list of "final 4" D-1 / AAA football teams from the beginning of the playoffs in '72.
I could help, just from memory... but I hope there's SOMEONE out there that has some records.

Did Ignatius and Brunswick play in 1995? Wouldn't they have met in the semifinals?

In '95, Brunswick lost in the state semifinal game, but the team that beat them (was it Colerain or someone else?) used an ineligible player and had to forfeit. Because the discovery was made soon after the semifinal, the OHSAA awarded the victory to Brunswick and thus they had the dubious honor of playing St. Ignatius in the finals.
Pretty strange geographical pairings, if you ask me!

That was mainly what I was talking about. Aren't Iggy, Boardman, and Brunswick all in region I and II?
Very intersting note about the forfeit. That would be hard to play that next game after getting drilled the week before and knowing that a forfeit put you into the finals.
Can you believe that a Cincinnati area team or a St. Somebody team in not in the D-I state championship game :scratchchin:
