I'm sure Coach Cross got a few calls tonight from the McKinley faithful. He is from that area and has not denied his interest when asked. It also pays about $15-thousand more and is a solid program.

Now let the speculation begin. Will it be a case of "coaching musical chairs?"

With Rotsky and Gibbons allegedly possibly leaving their respective schools, this could get real interesting.

This is going to be worth watching. Two weeks ago it was thought to be highly likely that Cross would take the WGH job "if" in fact TM resigned, and the reasons for doing so were quite clear at that time.
If McKinley wins out and Cross brings them another Championship it's quite possible that Cross's financial situation including his "2 home dilema" may suddenly get better. That would leave one other significant factor for Cross to consider. That being his desire to return to the Warren area and coach.

Personally I think Gibbons should be Warren's next head coach! Lol

Will a 106-0 shellacking from Colerain throw a monkey wrench into this very well thought out logic, bruddah??

Lol! Possibly, but private money might just throw the entire set of wrenches into it!
I'm sure even you know some deep pocketed folks that may need a part time residence in the Columbus area, even if it's only used every other year in say.... mid-November for a place to hang for the weekend of a certain beat down that takes place at the shoe!
Yeah, there may be a few Canton folks that might see the need for it, "if" they win out!

Now, about that $15,000.00 difference in pay :scratchchin: Lol

Being a WGH supporter, the sadness of losing Tom McDaniels comes first. Second, the wish and desire that whoever comes in better be as good as or better than what Tom had accomplished.

Like it or not, Massillon's success, atmosphere, and fan support is a great measuring stick for other schools. I did not know you had a couple of play clocks until we came down for the Mentor game (for example). Your scoreboard shows instant replay. We have to come this way as well to keep up with the Joneses so-to-speak.

If Massillon had a larger amount of citizens that remained in town, I could see you building a "Baby Horse Shoe Stadium". Hint, Hint :grinning:

Right now is a sad time. Should know something before December is over. It would be nice to get a qualified and successful coach from either out of state or in state that may coach differently or more effectively than Tom.

Maybe come down from the college ranks from a top D1 school. For the amount of talent coming up, coming in, and coming over, we hope to have an awesome system(s) in place to take us back to the "promised land" yet keep us a respectful team and turn boys into men and carry themselves appropriately. I know I said a long time ago, that it does not matter that we win or lose against a quality team. What matters is that we have them on our schedule. There is nothing better than a good hard fought game.

It did run across my mind that Gibbons could take the job. I know who would be on our schedule! We need a coach that can be up there with the Stacy's, Kyle's, Gibbons, Cross'. No disrespect to other coaches, these are the ones I know. You are talking money, future big college players, a pipeline to both Ohio State and Michigan, Penn State and Indiana. It would be cool to send someone to FSU one day. Wishful thinking. Anyway, we are in that period Massillonians know well when it is time to look for coaches, you kind of hold your breath, and hope your secret pick is the winner, you know? I know you want to ask who is my pick. If I say, it won't come true, that has been my personal luck.

The interview begins...........

Answer me why a "top coach at a top D1 school leave there to coach Warren, Massillon, McKinely, or anyone else. That makes NO sense to me.

Coaching on our level is less stressful than a D1 college job. But would still want to coach. If the money is right or a change of pace for someone with a nice resume that wants a different/ easier challenge, well? It is like some NFL coaches that go back down to College level. People move up and down ladders depending on their perspective. It is not for us to judge, we can ask, but judge, no. Massillon/ Harding and others like to have their head coaches stay and if they leave you hope they move up to the college ranks or make that lateral move somewhere else. Top coaches can be the best of their game one year or year after year. But may want to go to a good high school later on just mentor and coach the players. It may not be about the money even, just a less stressful pace than college.

On the funny side, I would be like you and really scratch my head if you are an NFL coach and come down to D1 high school football and say they paid me more than the Browns...we know something ain't right!!!

By the way a big Thank You to the stadium workers last week at PBTS for making us feel at home for the game with Mentor.

It is very possible that a lot of NE Ohio HS football fans will be in deep shock after everything shakes out.

You mean like Cross to WGH and McDaniels back to McK? Is McD going back to McK even a possibility after what's transpired since left?

Do tell Cats44!
