I went to see Bo about a possibility of a position with the Michigan Athletic Dept when he was AD. He invited me into his office. One thing led to another and we got on the subject of baseball.

He told me that his high school catcher from Barberton, Hal Naragon who was the Cleveland Indians' back-up catcher in 1954, invited him into the Tribe's clubhouse. He mentioned, in his gruff voice, what a great pitching staff they had and he got to meet Bob Feller, Bob Lemon, Early Wynn, Mike Garcia, Don Mossi, Ray Narleski, Hal Newhouser and Art Houtemann. By the time he had rattled all those names off, his face was red and he was actually leaning toward me off his chair, almost into my face and yelled, "The best damn pitching staff in the history of baseball and don't you ever forget it!!!" I meekly said, "No sir I won't."

Warren1st!
That's a great story, and I'm sure it still brings chills to your spine when you recall that very special moment, but I do have one question.
Did Glen E. Bo Schembechler give you the job?

BTW! Evidently it could have been said that "Bo knows Baseball" long before Bo Jackson was even born!

Coach Bo is the model of Michigan football and I am glad to have met the man! he ran his football camps like every player was already a member of the Wolverine family!! We were teased all week long for being out of uniform-- wearing our "Bigger, Faster, Stronger, Unbeatable shirts all over campus supporting Massillon!! Bo thought that was great and let us wear our shirts all week because he loved the TEAM concept!! Great motivator!!!!

........i knew how much you thought of bo from our many talks years ago.....some men just dominate a room with sheer will...i once spend a couple of hours listening to a former woody linebacker while working on a turnpike bridge....we had a series of violent lightning storms and we were taking protection under the bridge deck.....bo and woody were very close in their intensity as some of these stories we almost surreal.....he's the guy that told me the most amazing thing was observing woody slap helmuts very hard 30-40 times a practice and show no pain.....i am sorry about you losing a friend.......
