On this Thanksgiving I would like to take the time to thank our Fallen Tigers and remember them and thank them for everything they have done to honor this city and to honor them and their memories and say a simple thankyou.

That is so weird- I just was thinkng about Courtney Herring the other day-on Sunday actually.
I always think of Leon Ashcraft every time I drive past his grave on Erie Street.
I know there are others-Matt D. , Stu..but Courtney was just on my mind.
I was just thinking about how many people our town has lost tragically.

TigerLover, we disagree on a lot of things, but thank you for bringing a smile to my face tonight by getting me to jog through memory lane with Courtney and Bones. Two great kids, besides great ball players. They both always had a smile on their face and gave their all in everything they did. I will still always have the vision of Courtney looking like he was shot out of a cannon when he caught Antoine Winfield of Garfield from behind, straight on, with no angle in 1994.

I remember Bone at Shriver park as a kid-- always mixing it up with the older boys!!! I had to look out for him ,Falando, and Travis while our mother's played softball for hours! Courtney was a great kid who left us way to early!!! Stu taught me work ethic as a young tiger in the gym!!! Randy McDew was like my father growing up! I could go on an on but:
THANK YOU FOR ALL THE MEMORIES!!!

I remember playing backyard ball with Falando, Eric Wright, Bones, and the Williams boys. I grew up with them..they lived in my 'hood.
Courtney was always around-playing with us, he was fast.
I got the best picture of Courtney and Bones- at a game-holding hands and their helmets. It broke my heart after they died so , I put it away in a shoe box-I haven't pulled it out in years.
Just think Bones' son is coming up through the schools-he'll be grown up before we know it-he should be about 11 since his son was born after my eldest.
That'll be a great thing to hear-Touchdown Ashcraft.

Bones son is going to be a good athlete! He runs the ball real hard and when he gets in the open field-- he's gone!!!! I didn't get to see him play this year being in the C-bus!!
I knew about Bones, he was a great kid! What the hell happened to Courtney Herring?

You didn't know?
I'm sorry I thought mostly everyone knew.
Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.
He is sadly missed, I know. Such a bright future.
Glad to hear about Bone's son-I know he is making his dad proud.

I guess that did not clear it up-
In 2002 he was in the Army, stationed in Arizona, he was off duty before Thanksgiving and was killed when the car he was driving plowed into a tractor-trailed parked on the side of the road.
He is buried next to Bones-in Oakwood.
No answers came out of the investigation, but the truck was parked legally.
Just God's way I guess.
He was such a good kid-they both were. And disturbing that they were the best of friends, both in the military and both killed.
