"Kellen Winslow wanted to send a message, and he did so before the Browns-Steelers game Sunday.

``Sometimes,'' Winslow said, ``you got to face the bully.''

Winslow did when he started jabbering at Steelers linebacker Joey Porter during warm-ups. Porter, never shy, jabbered right back.

``It's all love,'' Winslow said. ``Sometimes you got to face the bully.... You got to step up to the challenge and know that you're not scared of him. They beat us 41-zip last year and I damn sure wasn't having that...''

At least the Browns didn't roll over like last year. But to fully earn "the bullys respect" you've got to beat them on a consistent basis. Lip service only goes so far K2.

he is not a cancer. that attitude is exactly what the browns need. listen...i am NO fan of winslow as a person. but, on the field, he's a flat-out stud....and will be if for years to come (if he stays off the bikes  )

Too bad his mouth doesnt earn them any points. If they did Cleveland would have won that game by alot of points.

What a great weekend. The Buckeyes took care of Michigan on Saturday. And the Steelers beat Cleveland on Sunday.. (again)

Was Winslow one of the guys that got flagged for roughing up Ben Knievel?

I certainly don't condone trash talking as a motivator for victories, but lets be honest, the thug on the othert end of the trash talking is no angel and it seems to work for him! All I say is, if you're gonna do it, BACK IT UP ON THE FIELD!

Two bad that "stud" couldn't pull down that catch in the endzone to win the game-if you ask a non Browns fan-I think Cribbs is the "stud" on your team.
And Winslow is barking up the wrong tree when it comes to Porter-he's way out of Winslows league-and you can't talk %$#@ when you think you are a team of one and you have lost 12 out of 13 of the last meetings. Maybe he is too young to remember that.

To date, this is the best that the Cleveland Browns have played to date. Relying on an interception return for a touchdown by Daven Holly and then a kickoff return touchdown by Joshua Cribbs, the Browns were poised to end a 5-game losing streak to their hated rivals, the 5x Super Bowl champion Pittsburgh Steelers.

However, when it was said and done in the 107th meeting between the two rivals, Pittsburgh had the tougher football team in the end and relied heavily on their championship tradition to gut out a 24-20 heartstopper at Cleveland Browns Stadium.

Same old story, same victory. But the Steelers HAD to work for this one as they beat a determined Browns team and I mean, determined.

WHAT A GAME! WHAT A GAME!! Hope to see the Browns again, they won my respect for a hard-fought contest............

watch more than one browns game before making the claims you do. winslow is ranked what among NFL TE's? FIRST.

http://www.nfl.com/stats/playersort/NFL/TE-RECEIVING/2006/regular

imo...the guy can talk all he wants...he's PROVING he will be a star in this league. while i do not condone trash talking and/or a 'look-at-me' display of emotion...there is a time and place to do it...and yes, it does create an attitude on the team. this is an attitude the browns have sorely missed. the 'dawg-pound' was created '85 by a trash-talking browns defense...to which that year they were 8-8...and the laughing stock of the league 4-5 years prior. ...the dawg-pound wasn't created by a freakin' corporate marketing commitee. being cocky isn't all bad.

watch the browns o-line. at BEST...their o-line is awful. charlie frye runs for his life every game...which obviously affects his throwing accuracy and...ahem...lifespan.

the browns are going in the right direction. for the most part the skill players are there... they NEED o-line HELP.

Steelers still suck.

Look, if you want to point fingers lets not forget about Mr. $7,743,000.00 per year that has 41 catches for 612 yards and a whopping 3 TD's!
This same multi-millionare had 32 catches for 512 yards and 3 whopping TD's last year!
Braylon needs to step up!

89 qb rating from yesterdays game.

17 for 27 ...for a 63% completion rate....and 224 yards passing. no TD's... respectable...but, not a great game.

And he makes about $3,000,000.00 more then Kellen Kneivel!

I was totally against the Edwards pick. I think Shawn Merriman or Demarcus Ware would look better in a Browns uniform.

Braylon is just another in the long list of under achievers at WR that came out of Michigan.

Maybe Romeo can get a 3rd round pick for him in the off season.

I guess it just depends which stats you are interested in.
He may lead the league in most yards, but he also got the ball the most.
Also, he has less td's than most in the league.

you know what, the browns may have lost, but at least winslow made porter look like a bit*h with that lethal stiff arm! that was beautiful! say what you want about winslow talking too much, but i believe porter runs it all the time, too. when it came down to man against man little joey couldn't match up. yeah, i know, i know, the browns lost, but this thread is about winslow.

BTW -Big Ben only was only 25-of-44 passes for 272 yards, two touchdowns and three interceptions against Cleveland.
Frye also rushed for 27 yards...although he did fumble.
I think this sums it up.
"We had them," said tight end Kellen Winslow, who engaged in some serious pregame trash talking with Pittsburgh's Joey Porter. "We're in every single game. We just have to find a way to pull it out at the end."

Porter had no sympathy.

"If you talk and lose, you're still losers," he said. "They talk like a different team, but in reality they are not. They had all the breaks, all the bounces. But when it was nail-biting time and you've got to make plays, who made them?

WTF is the point to that? people talk ALL THE TIME DURING competition. sometimes you win...sometimes you lose. that's the nature of competition. porter can spew at his mouth about the browns all he wants...fact-of-the-matter is they're still 4-6...and won't sniff the playoffs. so he's proud of beating another 3-6 team... whooptie-friggin'do.

although a whitty little quote... it means zero. winslow has the POTENTIAL to be HOF material... porter? i think not. i'll take winslow's skill over porter's skill any time of the week.

btw... what's with ben's stats... still trying to figure out why you posted that??

Hey as soon as Winslow doesn't have to buy a ticket to attend the Pro Bowl, then he can consider himself in Porter's league, until that time, just worry about "being a soldier" Winslow...lol. If you knew you were going to get jumped leaving a bar by 10 guys outside and Porter and Winslow were in the club and you could leave with one of them to fight with you, who would you take? I would take porter without a doubt....well unless there was a motorcycle near-bye, then Winslow could just wipe them all out with it..lol But who would you take? It's not even close. One stiff arm, doesnt make him tougher than porter. Do ti for more than one year in the league then talk.
You Browns fans are like McKinley fans..."yeah well we lost, but hey how about that one run/stiff arm Morgan Williams/Kellen Winslow had" Gimme a break

well...seeing as the man has played only 3 or 4 games prior to this season. i'd say give him a bit more time.

btw... if you haven't noticed... you're only one game UP on our pathetic browns. you may want to also prepare for the draft.

DUDE- A "W" is a "W"....
the Browns lost, Winslow lost, as they have the last 12 of 13 meetings....

They will ruin either Ginn or Smith's because the pressure will be too much for them to not draft one of them.

I saw Winslow's stiff arm on Porter. Unfreakingbelievable. Porter was better two years ago in his pre-game fight with William Green.

At least Winslow isn't no "Jerky" Jerramy Stevens. Low down dirty jerked, egotistical, rash, rancid, arrogant, malevolent, yellow, silly, terrible, evil, vile, egregious, nasty, seahawk in the sky.

Win-Slow will never make it to the pro-bowl. The league allready has 3 or 4 allstar tight ends that have proven themselves. The only thing Win-Slow has proven is that he cant ride a bike and that he used a stiff arm on Porter. Hate to break the news to you, but 1 stiff arm to Porter wont give you a spot in the pro bowl.

cracka! Why would that matter? Unless I'm wrong, and that very well could be, I don't think it's mandatory that every NFL team has a representative in the Pro-Bowl like MLB requires!
I'm actually drawing a blank trying to remember who made it from the Browns and the 49ers last year.

You are correct, it's not a requirement. The Browns did not have anyone named last year, although I was surprised Andra Davis wasn't selected. neither did Green Bay or San Fran. For those wishing to vote for this year's squad, here's the link.

what a biased, assinine post.

winslow... hurt the past two years
edwards...hurt more than half his rookie year.
frye...runs for his LIFE every freakin' game.

yet...the browns wasted picks?

nice pick in santonio holmes... btw...with 12 less catches than your best reciever braylon hardly looks like a bust. in essentially his rookie year.
