I just heard today from 2 different people who are pretty close to Fite, that he is or has already, come back to WHS.

I imagine there are some OHSAA "transfer rules" that may nix any BB participation at WHS.

Allow me to expand on the question without delving too deeply into the answer...

It all depends on the circumstances of his transfer to Perry. Where did he live when he attended WHS? Did he go to Perry as an open enrollment student, was he returning to his home district (did he attend WHS as an open enrollment student), or did he change residence from Massillon to Perry? It gets even more complicated:
- If he lives in Massillon and transferred to Perry as an open enrollment student, then he probably can play for Massillon. From the OHSAA bylaws: "A student shall be entitled to one transfer into a public high school located in the public school district within which the student’s parent residence is located regardless of from where the student is transferring."
- If the entire family moved to Perry and moved back to Massillon, he's immediately eligible.
- If his parents are divorced and he changed custodial parents to get to Perry, he would not have been eligible at Perry until approved by the commissioner. The same restriction would presumably apply if he changed custodial parents again to get back to Massillon.
- However, if he went to Perry because he changed custodial parents, or if the entire family moved to Perry, he could come back to Massillon as an open enrollment student. In that case, he would need a release from the Perry Super to be immediately eligible.

Obviously, much of this depends on the particulars of his situation, and his home life/custodial issues are very much relevant. However, we should (in the interest of privacy and respect) tread very carefully when discussing the particulars, as any such conversation is likely to drift into areas that have no business being discussed on a public forum.

I seen half the team at Mike's College Acceptance party tonight. Those boys have grown alot of inches. We might be better off this year. With McKinley graduating most of their team, Massillon will be in the drivers seat. I can't wait for the season to start!

Look for Michael Porrini (the heart and soul of Massillon basketball) to have another breakout year.

And watch out for 6'3'' shooting guard Jared Porrini.........he has a range on him.

I ran into one of the football players downtown the day of the Perry game and he told me that Fite was going to come back but he hadn't at that point!

We need more fans to support the basketball team!

Mike has put on a few inches since last year. Jared has grown almost a foot since last year. Corey has grown almost a foot since last year. This years team should give Moeller all they can handle this year in Columbus. Call me bias, but I think we are going very deep in the playoffs.

Go Tigers!!

I agree with MM. Our team should be rock solid, but having Fite back sure isn't gonna hurt. You can't hold it against the kid when it is the parents who have the say-so in these decisions. I also can't imagine that his father would allow him to return to Massillon if he wasn't already sure that everything was on the up-n-up and that his son will be able to play according to the rules. He certainly is no stranger to the system concerning basketball. I can't wait to see the Tigers play!

Good Luck Massillon Ballers!!!!!!!!!!!!!

According to a thread on Yappi Fite had 10 points in Perrys first scrimmage. If he's moving back they better get a move on. Like the old saying goes it's getting late early.

What happened in the scrimmage last night? Who dressed, started, played etc,... I think we are going to be pretty good this year!! We have some good players who have been playing together for a long time!!!

Does anyone have any idea when the kickoff cocktail hour is or has it already passed? My wife and I went last year and it was a nice time getting to meet the coach and here him talk about the upcoming season. Last year it was after the Perry scrimmage the night before the St X game. It was held at the Massillon Club.

Massillon will be in the mix. Again this year the preseason talk is centering around the Tigers, Pups, GlenOak and Perry.

I was at the Perry Rotary's Preview and Fite was in a Perry uniform and started in their game with Bexley. I would think he would be at Massillon by this time if he was going to go back. We shall see.

I can't wait for the Massillon-Perry game. That will be the game of the year in Stark County for all the right reasons.

Never forget Michael Porrini told Perry fans to go home after his game-winning shot to give Massillon an emotional 61-60 in front of 3,000 at Perry High School.

Perry fans made it clear they will never forgive Porrini for telling them to go home after his basket. Take the Tigers in a potential classic!

we smaked around perry in the playoff game. they let the kids play and this what should have happened in game one. so it should be a good game this year.

Too bad she took so much criticism. Now look at the shape we're in!!:puke:
